Palace Hotel Kakegawa: Small Rooms
Probably one of the two best hotels in Kakegawa, the hotel has a capacity of 124 rooms and is a 4-star hotel (I think). There's an outdoor fountain next to the lobby, which adds to the ambience, and the people can speak English too.

There's a nice Chinese restaurant downstairs as well as a Japanese restaurant, but both are kind of pricy.

The hotel probably has around 8 floors, and has a nice view of the city, but the rooms are really small! I'm not talking about capsule hotel small, but they're small!

You can stick in 500 yen to get adult programming, or bring your own screwdriver to open the box and get it for free!... uh, or so I here.

The Palace Hotel: Not really palatial, but a good hotel nonetheless
  • Satisfaction:
  • This is one of Kakegawa's nicer hotels, with an attractive lobby and some pretty landscaping using rock and waterfalls. There are two restaurants (Chinese and Japanese). We ate at the Japanese restaurant, and although the space was lovely and atmospheric, and the service attentive, we didn't enjoy the food. The free breakfast buffet was fine, however.

As with many hotels in Japan, the rooms are extremely small, but they're also comfortable, with nice blankets (but be warned that the pillows are hard). Showers have good water pressure and shampoo and hair dryer is provided. Rooms have internet access through a LAN cable, and it was in working order. There is no business center in the hotel. The staff speaks English.

I would certainly stay here again.
