 | Algiers Shopping | Tips 1 - 8 of 8 | | Popular Shopping | Other Shopping Tips | All Tips (8) This is a street flee market, located more or less near El Jedid mosque, where you can find unbelievably cheap stuff. Of course, it is not advised to stroll around there by yourself giving out smoke signals that you're a foreigner, but as longs as you seem to know what you're doing and speak French (although Arabic is preferred) it will work out fine. However, the best is to go there with locals, like I did. There are lovely scarves, traditional dresses, awfully cheap goods... Even if you don't buy anything it's fun to see. Ryad El Feth (thanks for the help with the name, kokoryko!) is right under the Martyr monument. It's a several story shopping centre with shops of different kinds, cinema complex, gym, restaurants, etc. There are some shops selling souvenirs and traditional clothes, including traditional wedding gowns, like on the picture. This man claims he has the oldest copper workshop in Algiers. Indeed it was very old, and it's right at the entrance in the Casbah, near the museum. All the items were typical oriental style, and very well done, all hand made of course. Leave a Comment Theme: Other

There are lots of metal artisan shops, especially in the Casbah. This is owned by a kind old artisan who polishes all the handmade items he sells. There are photos of his shop from decades ago, as he inherited the business from his father. Leave a Comment Theme: Other

There are lots of shops selling traditional ethno stuff, souvenirs and clothes, mostly they are called "artisanat" shops, but you can find also old jewelry and some museum-value things inside. Leave a Comment Theme: Other
