Go deep fishing in the sea. The hotels can arrange that for you, you will have a great experience. For fishing amateurs, Sal Island is the ideal place. There’s a vast variety of fish. Fishing is generally successful in all the techniques, but much more exciting in the high seas - only for the sportier individuals, obviously. When I was there we went fishing with the locals early in the morning and we had a great time and also had the opportunity to interact with them. Leave a Comment

The sunset in Sal Island was one of the most beautiful I have ever seen. I used to go to the beach or sit at the beach front bar of the hotel and watch it while having a drink and before getting ready for dinner. It was a really amazing and helped me feel even more relaxed! Leave a Comment Address: Santa Maria do Sal

the people of cabo verde are very calm and freindly people. they are certainly not very stressed out at all and always seem to have time for a chat. cape verdians are africans, but they are racially very mixed because the islands have had many sailors coming to the islands over the years and many cape verdians have also emmigrated and married foreigners. bootm line: very beautiful people. Sal's beach front area offers one of the best Kite and Wind Surfing environments in the world. With pure turquoise waters ranging in temperature from 21 to 29 celsius, it is a surfing haven. With an off-shore wind at the beginning of the bay and a slight on-shore wind at the end of the bay it is perfect location for both beginners and experts. Sal continues to be rated as one of the World’s top class surfing destinations, as it has been gifted with tropical winds from November to June and a tropical climate all year around. Leave a Comment

The beach in Sal Island is really great, with turquoise water. There is also always much sun so one of the best things to do when you are in Sal is to stretch out, sunbathe and unwind on the comfortable beach chairs. Don't forget to use a high sun protector because the sun is really hot there and it can burn! Leave a Comment

Mindelo is situated at a great bay. Mindelo with the deepest port of the archipelago is a junction of intercontinental shipping. Visit the lifely Praca Amilcar Cabril and the bars and music-cafe's in the environment of the Rua Libertadores d'Africa. Mindelo is known as a centre of culture, especially of the traditional music. Other things to do or to see: Go to the fish-market, walk around and look at the many colourfull colonial houses, visit the beach at Baia das Gatas. Leave a Comment

Santo Antao is one of the most beautifull islands of Cape Verde. There are mountains, fabulous views, green valleys with plantations of banana, mango and papaya and in the north cosy fishing villages. Santo Antao and Sao Nicolau are the best places for walks and hiking. The airport of Santo Antao was out of order (in 2002). So we took the one hour ferry from Mindelo to Porto Novo. The sea can be rather rough sometimes. We didn't have problems. For more information and pictures look at my Santo Antao page. Leave a Comment
