Shark's Bay is a cosy little bay bustling with life about half-way between the airport and Naama Bay. On the west side of the bay are sun umbrellas, sun beds, toilets, showers and a snack restaurant operated by Pyramisa Hotel directly above. At the other end are more litte restaurants, sunbeds and umbrellas though not quite up to the same quality. In between is a row of kiosks with souvenirs, and a jetty with boats operating dive excursions, snorkeling trips, water skiing, para-gliding and even pedalos. The snorkeling here all the way around headland is excellent with lots of colourful and very friendly fish. Leave a Comment

One of the most memorable things about Sharm El Sheikh is the beautiful desert sunsets. At around 5.00pm-5.30pm every night you should spend this time to watch the sun go down over the sea and desert. It looks absolutely breathtaking and also you can get some fabulous photos too. We used to go to the rooftop of our hotel and have a drink and peacefully watch the sunset. It was also very romantic hehe. You can enjoy the sunsets however you like, you can go down to the beach and enjoy the view, sit on the rooftop of your hotel, go into the desert and ride a camel or horse and even go quad biking. Whichever way you choose to do it, its guaranteed to be memorable. Enjoy!

You'll see some gorgeous sunsets in Sharm El Sheikh - whether you choose to do your sunset-watching on one of the *many* sunset excursions on offer, or just quietly watch the sun go down over the desert mountains of Sinai in a slightly more peaceful setting than together with 20 other tourists on an organised trip... :o) The picture was taken during an evening walk just outside Naama Bay. There is of course a whole array of sunset excursions available - you can ride a horse, a camel or a quad (!) into the sunset (quads are four-wheeled motorbikes / ATV's), climb Mount Sinai in time to watch the sun go down over the desert, sit in a bedouin camp sipping mint tea while watching the sunset followed by a belly dancing show - you name it... Just stop by any tour operator in Naama Bay or elsewhere in Sharm for details and offers. :o) (And it's "always" sunny in Sharm, so you can see the sunset every single evening...;o) Leave a Comment

Below is a picture of Sharm Reef Beach - typical of the many little coves and beaches surrounding Oum el Seid Hill in Sharm el Sheikh. Not much sand, no play area for kids and a bit of a climb... but ... the water's super clean and great for snorkeling ! Leave a Comment

This IS Usama bin Ladens summerhouse! I asked at the hotel, cabdriver and locals and they all said YES! I did not see him around (maybe he was snorkeling) Usama has a lot of houses around the world, but he is never visiting them, but somethimes his relatives visit this place. Unbelievable? - belive it! This is true!!!! Leave a Comment

The Dinner & Stars trip is one to remember. Your tour company will take you into the middle of the desert just before sunset to a bedouin camp. It all looks lovely to begin with, all of you sitting around in tents smoking shisha and drinking tea. Then the sun goes down, and you can't see your hand in front of you! Quite scary! Because there is no light pollution in the desert, the sky is full of stars. The best part is looking through the telescopes at the planets and stars. If you have a digital camera, you can attach it to the telescope and take a picture.

From Sharm you can make whole day trip to Coloured Canyon which lies some 120 km north of Sharm, near Nuweiba. Canyon got its name because there you can see many colourful, bright layers of stoneware. The canyon is a result of many rainfalls some 500.000 years ago, when water cut its way into stone and left some beautiful structures behind. In some places canyon gets really narrow. Not for those with claustrophobia. Leave a Comment
