    Chimpanzees need the companionship of other Chimpanzees literally to survive. They also need a place to live. The main threats to them today are: Deforestation, Snare Hunting, 'Bush Meat' and the 'Pet' Trade. There are many reasons for this from slash and burn agriculture to their meat being prized as an expensive delicacy. Snaring is illegal and so is hunting. Needless to say poachers kill whole groups because they don’t care. The pet trade is everything from stupidly trying to keep them as house pets to weird circus like antics. Fortunately the Chimpanzees are p[powerful and turn on their tormentors, but they always loos in the long run. Fortunately there is this sanctuary and well protected wildlife areas in some places in Uganda.
