 | Huangshan General Tips | Tips 1 - 10 of 25 | | Popular General Tips | Other General Tips Tips | All Tips (25) Everybody sems to be keen on staying overnight at the summit in order to get that picturesque postcard sunrise photo. If you go to Huangshan during summer, the most popular season, then you'll be joining the crowds very early in the morning. The Beihai hotels let guests borrow large padded jackets which keep you warm of course but also help you blend in with the army of Chinese tourists who will get there before you do.
I was not lucky during my one and only visit to Huangshan. I have met people who have been to Huangshan more than once at different times of the year and still didn't get blue sky or the sea of clouds sunrise. There is a 30 minute time window during which you hve a chance to get those great sunrise photos, but it changes with the seasons: Summer: 04:10 - 05:20 Autumn: 04:50 - 05:20 Winter: 05:30 - 06:00 (very cold!) Spring: 05:15 - 05:45 Leave a Comment

When there is rolling clouds, the scenery of Huangshan is enhanced and becomes heavenly. Suddenly the sun shine, then the clouds covered forever. TIP: So take your pictures fast and early in the morning for when the day proceeds, the clouds may blanket everything. TIP: Do not spend too much at one spot, there are so many beautiful vistas, that when you get to the other spots later, the clouds have covered everything.

There are many tourist attractions after your visit to Huangshan that are worth dropping by before returning to town: 1) Tea house that demonstrate different method of preparing tea and the different kind of tea for you to sample. Buying the tea is optional and usually can be pricey especially the specialty Huangshan tea. 2) A snake farm that sell all part of the snake for medicinal value and a bear pit where you can hang apples for the bears to stand on their two paws or throw in a live chicken. Please do not do the latter.

Hong Cun is an amazing village where the water flow through the entire town for use of each household. It is a place for budding artists and film directors. A wonderful village worth visiting after the majestic grandeur of Huangshan.

If you have hiked up or down Mt. Huangshan, you probably have bought a walking stick. A walking stick is very useful even if you are just going up and down by cable cars and walking the steps on the top of Mt. Huangshan. Help you to balance and reduce the weight on your knees. You may not feel it in your knees now, you could feel it in the future. Get one that is light and shorter that can fit into your luggage bag. Do not throw them away. Take them home as souvenir to remember those wonderful and tiring moments at Mt. Huangshan.

1,if you would like to go to visit hongcun,I think you should have a night there ,then tomorrow morning to Tangkou. 2,Public bus in Yixian is morn than in Hongcun,so,you had better from hongcun to yixian ,then to Tangkou(best way). publice bus in hongcun,as i know, there are 2 runs available, but i don't if your time can be match. 3,You had better to arrange one night in the peak as weel.RMB100.00/bed min. 4,3 days is enough. 5, if 1 day in huangshan only, you had better take the cable car.but cannot enjoy the joy!! 6,Tunxi to Tanjiaquiao by taxi about RMB120~200.MAX.200RMB. 7,Tongkou to Tanjiaqiao : about 30 minutes. Before climbing the mountain, seek out Mr Cheng (aka Simon). He runs a restaurant in Tangkou and also speaks very good English, and provided us with excellent advice about the best routes and interesting sites on Huang Shan. Without his advice our trip would not have been the same. His restaurant is hard to find but he'll probably find you! Alternatively call his cell phone, 13085592603. He is a really helpful and nice guy, genuinely! Leave a Comment

Wearing two or three layers of clothing is best because you will work up a sweat as you ascend the mountain. A rain jacket is always useful here, too. Leave a Comment
