 | Shenzhen Shopping | Tips 1 - 10 of 57 | | Popular Shopping | Other Shopping Tips | All Tips (57) Dong Men Shopping District is not a department store, its an open air shopping area that is interconnected, with hundred plus shops. A shopping heaven, and its lively at night.. Along the shops are small parks with benches, and a lot of food stalls, good place to sit once you are tired from shopping. The place is really for people that love to bargain, always ask immediately for 50% off from its original price..
Bags (from handbags to luggages), Fashion Accessories, Shoes, Toys, Men & Women Clothings... Most people buy there designer fakes, (from LV to Prada), and those fakes got different grade, that once the grade of the fake is high, its almost as good as the original, pretty hard to know which is the orig. Watches, all types of designer watch including latest models.. all of it are replicas only.. I love bags, but Im not into designers, unless its original, and Shenzhen do got a lot of it too, pretty unique designs, that you could only find in one shop only, I bought 6 bags :-)
Sky is the limit.. Shop keepers accept only RMB or HK dollar.. but a lot of them accepts RMB only.. For ladies bags (not designer replica) it range from 25-35 HK dollar.. Leave a Comment Theme: Women's ClothesAddress: Dong Men Road

MOI is a medium size department store along Dongmen Road. Open until 9pm (or is it 8pm only.?.) Dongmen is considered to be the busiest commercial district of Shenzhen. Its well lit, clean and easy to browse through as selections are sorted well..They usually got Sale Sale items, and its price are very low already. Prices are okay specially on the clothes and gift items. (you cannot bargain).
There are wide range of women and mens clothes, jewelries, cosmetics, perfumes and gift items. All at affordable prices.
Payments could be in RMB or HK$ Leave a Comment Theme: GiftsAddress: Dongmen RoadDirections: Another branch of MOI is at Heping Road, Luohu District/Huaqiang Road North, Futian District

Unbelievable. You can buy shoes, jewelery, clthing, souvenirs, fake bags, fake anything, golf clubs, dvds. Its like canal street or venice beach except with everything under the sun. I love it. Im not a logo gucci bag kind of girl, but the other merchandise is nice. Beware though, I did buy a Louis vuitton, and tried to ship it to my cousin. Right outside at the bottom of the escalator is a shipping place. They open your package and inspect it and if they see its a fake bag refuse to send it. But you just say SEND IT anyway, and they will. My cousin recieved the bag, and I didnt have to go through customs with it (Im neurotic, youd think I had drugs on me!)
A lot of men buy golf clubs here becuase the factories are here, so they are the same. THIS IS THE SAME as buying a fake purse. THat is fine by me, but it is the same boys! If they give you a price, start at half of what they say. They are crazy with bargaining. I buy so much here. The shoes are great, some are more costly than others. You can buy shoes for 3$- very expensive. The 3 dollar shoes are what you will find in the states at mandees or g and g, for 25. The good shoes are what I find at the boutiques in soho for $400. I buy a suitcase of shoes and ship them home. I also buy wigs here and some pocketbooks, but the leather has to be good. Which it usually is not. I also buy a few dvds for the plane or the hotel room. For the men, there are also Ferarri stores, only containing ferarri!

This several storey building is just after you crossed the border. There are several floors selling everything is one easy building. There are escalators. You can find almost every silk, handicraft, watch, toy that you are looking for. There is a grocery, restaurants and blind masseurs too. For imitation products, there are two types. Those that looks almost real and those that are cheaper but obvious fake a mile away. So ask for the A type, not B type. Bargaining is an art. 10% is nothing. 30% or 50% is average. For expert shoppers, getting 70% discount of the opening price is a breeze. Theme: Other

At the town centre area of Fuyong town just next to the Shenzhen airport, there is a popular bazaar known as Jia Le Fu Bazaar. This place is huge and sells many cheap stuff, especially ladies clothings, bags, shoes etc. There are many young ladies in Fuyong who work as factory workers in the many big factories in this town, and this bazaar is in a way specially catered for them. You can even bargain so that the price goes lower, and this place is relatively safe as compared to Shenzhen but you must know Chinese language as English is not commonly spoken here. This shopping area in Shenzhen is just amazing! Apart from a very interesting market it is an area of thousands of little shops with all kinds of everything. Only so,so for the fuller figure, but for those of size 12 or less it is just fantastic. Some designer/copies, but not as good as LoHu commercial centre. The upside of shopping in Dongmeng against LoHu is that it is peaceful...no hassle and an extraordinary maze (and I mean a hugh maze) of shops and outlets. The downside is that is easy to get lost...there is quite a shortage of English language and a lot of the shops dont take Credit Cards. There are ATMs but are they there when you want them? Good idea to take along plenty of cash. We felt quite safe there, unlike Lohu. It is just one MTR stop from Lohu station and another 5 minute walk across the road from the GuangDong Hotel.
All kinds of everything
Some places bargain, but a lot seem to be fixed price Theme: OtherAddress: Renmin N Road ShenzhenDirections: From Guao Mao MTR Station - take the A, E exit..Jiebin Road..find Landmark Hotel..then GuangDong Hotel..across the busy road head towards Remnin N Road.Other Contact: info@craftcreations.ie

LuoHu Commercial City or Lowu (Lohu) Shopping Center is an enclosed shopping district within a huge building of just five floors. Hold on! There are corridors after corridors with countless stalls selling all whatever you have in mind. That will wait for you in every nook and corner of the LuoHu Complex. And people do speak English in their way. Take care of pick pocketing, begglars and those who wanna steal your belongings. Ofcourse the common activity here is ... bargaining! I cannot grant you the hint how to play the bargaining game. Just do it and get the best discount ever. I got some beautiful Prada shoes for only 160 Chinese yuan or RMB, that is about 16 Euros ... incredible, even for Christmas time! Or maybe a X-mas gift by spiritual powers ... Retail shops are open 10.30 am to 08.30 pm, although massage parlours, hairdressers, beauty and nail treatments etc. usually open earlier and close later.
Well, all of the products are that numerous so you will forget the exact gift you wanted by watching so many stuff. What belongs in a department store to buy you can find here. From touristy gifts to fashionable clothes, from trendy clothing to exquisite Chinese tradional costumes, from the latest movie DVDs to watches you've never seen from so close. And do not forget the knockoff handbags, shoes, ceramics, curiosities, get a massage by one of the famous blind masseurs who are not fake! Because... oh yeah, all, all is fake!!! Some are impressively detailed fakes!!! LuoHu Commercial City next to ZhuHai is just the best for fake shoppings.
1 Euro/Dollar up to ... whatever. Remember, the renminbi is the currency here, named yuan. RMB - Renminbi means "people's currency". 1 EUR = 10,3314 CNY 1 Chinese yuan = 0.139187 U.S. dollars Leave a Comment Theme: Department StoreAddress: LuoHu District, ShenzhenDirections: Next to the station and the Luohu Immigration Control Point, Shenzhen

Luo Hu is the first major shopping center / district you'll find as soon as you cross the border into Shenzhen from the train. As you exit customs you'll walk out into a huge outdoor courtyard. If you veer ahead off to your right you'll find the entrance to the shopping center. It's not obvious to spot at first so just watch for where people are entering and exiting. The center itself is five levels high and apparently the quality of goods improves with the higher the level. Level five is where all the tailors and clothing shops are, and there are a maze of them. We were recommended to one which I'll talk about separately. The center also sells knock-off copies of electronics, camera and computer related gear (complete with copy-cat labels). I wasn't game to buy any of that here just in case the quality wasn't there, but most of it looked very impressive. What blew me away though about the shopping here, and elsewhere in China, was the enormous array of choices in styles. One whole "floor" sold nothing but Jewelry. And I mean the whole "level", I just couldn't believe it! I've attached a photo for you to get an idea. Also there were huge amounts of battery powered toys and other electronics. The toys were very impressive too. But be careful about bring the kids here. You may never get them out. Each floor of the shopping center is styled similar to that of the outdoor markets. Walking around each floor you'll be surrounded with many small, one person shopping booths, each selling a variety or style of the same product theme. In this case: jewelry. But it's the sheer number of booths and ranges of products that's truly staggering. I've attached photos to try and give you an idea but they really don't do the reality justice. You just have to see it to believe it.
Our main focus for coming here were for the tailors. The cost of buying personally tailored suites and clothes is far cheaper than in Hong Kong. Actually, dramatically cheaper. As an example, I paid RMB$1,300 for two great looking cashmere suites. I could have bargained harder, but still, AUD$200 for two tailored suites is great. Also, the shopping center catered heavily for toys, electronics and computer ware. And if you're looking for jewelry and fashion accessories, then look no further. I mean it. They had 'everything', all for the bargaining, and we did just that. I will never shop at the markets in Australia ever again. We calculated it was far cheaper to buy everything here, pay the postage and ship it back to Australia, rather than pay the normal retail back home. Even by paying for the cheap postage we were still way out in front. Forget the Hong Kong markets. Shop till you drop here. That's my opinion.
Generally a very good bargain would be about 30% of the initial price. Anywhere between 30% & 50% of the asking price is what you're aiming for. Don't be rude in your bargaining too. Be friendly and have fun with it. But once you agree on a price: that's it, the deal is done. If you change your mind, that's extremely bad, rude, and will lead to an unfriendly argument. From clothes to bags, to shoes, cellphone accessories, beauty treatments, and massage, Luohu Commercial City has everything. What's best, no price is settled here. Bargain with all your might. No Chinese required. Just take the calculator and name your price. Most are knock offs though so don't believe sellers who try to say their products are genuine. For a list of shops that do carry genuine items, mostly overruns, get a Shop In Shenzhen book from Hong Kong bookstores.
Anything you fancy.

Dongmen is a shopping district dedicated to clothing. At least it seemed that way. All the streets and alleyways angled off into so many different directions you could easily get confused. I walked for hours and the streets were only the beginning. Step inside any of the buildings off the street and the shops again will lead you into a maze of different levels and directions. Each of the buildings appeared to be interconnected. So often you would emerge out at a completely different street from where you entered. There are heaps of side-streets and alleys to explore. We had a lot of fun. There are cheep street stalls selling great sporting ware, expensive-looking department stores and franchise style outlets. Every clothing type is here: casual, formal, sporting, trendy, you name it. And then there's the shoes. I have never seen so many varieties and styles to choose from in my life. One store which looked like a department store had all these little sections or cubicles of shoes. My local friend told me each cubicle was an individual business or shop within the store floor. I was actually wondering around picking up various shoes from different cubicles thinking I would take them to the one checkout counter to pay for them just like any other department store back home. It doesn't quite work that way. When you see this set-up within a larger store and you select something, pay for it at that cubicle. Don't wander off like I did thinking it's all part of the one big store. There's no specific shop I could recommend. It's all good and fun. Just get lost and enjoy the spending. Shenzhen is truly a shopping adventure. FINDING IT: Dongmen is two train stops (Laojie station) away from Shenzhen. Take exit 'B', turn right, then right again at the next street corner. Walk ahead to the 'Days Inn Shenzhen' Hotel, take the left alleyway beside the hotel, then at the end of it turn right, you're there. Welcome to Dongmen shopping district.
Aside from endless clothing you will also find bag & luggage shops & toy stores. There will obviously be many other things you could buy but I didn't have time to explore all the streets. Clothing here is the dominant theme.
Similar to western shops, many of what you see marked in the clothing stores is what you pay. There's no real bargaining. This was explained to me by my local friend. But some shops and stalls though will have bargaining room. There's no obvious way of knowing which ones will or won't. You just have to politely try. One expensive looking department store was prepared to bargain down 50%. Another store, where I did finally buy, didn't bargain. When I did my own comparisons though, the store that didn't bargain with me ended up being cheaper than the store which was offering me the 50% discount. So I just think you need to sensibly shop around and know your rough prices or values. And you can spend a lot of time doing this. So only go shopping with shop-a-holics or bargain hunters.
