 | Shenzhen Transportation | Tips 11 - 20 of 76 | | Popular Transportation | Other Transportation Tips | All Tips (76) For a foreigner without any help from a friend or supplier it will be not so easy to get to your place of destination. If you are alone, just take a taxi and show them the Chinese address and they will bring you there. But make sure that you have the address with you in Chinese writing, not all of them can read and understand English. When you leave the Fu Yong Ferry Terminal, you will see a lot of taxis waiting and just take the first in line. When you leave the China immigration, walk towards the shopping centre and lot’s of people will ask you if you need a taxi. You can follow one of them or just go up the stairs towards the shopping centre and then down again and you see a line of taxis waiting. Leave a Comment Theme: Car/Motor Home

In Shenzhen, car is still a luxury to some local people and its migrants from other parts of China. A lot of people guys and girls drive a motorycycle or bicycle going to work or around the city, as its fast and a cheaper option than public transpo, esp for short distance. It is amazing to see people riding bikes /motorcycles yet wearing business suits , with its attache case placed at the back. Helmet seems to be optional too.. On major districts there are no major bike path, and locals sometimes cruise wherever there is a paved road, so its always recommended to be extra careful, as bicycle driver comes from nowhere (all roads there) and you might collide. Ive seen tourists almost colliding with bicycle drivers esp at night. Leave a Comment Theme: Motorcycle

There are regular air-conditioned coaches which travel from the airport at Fuyong to Shenzhen city and vice versa. The journey takes about 1 hour each way along comfortable highway. Each trip costs RMB$12. Leave a Comment

Crossing the border at Lo Wu from China to Hong Kong is more confusing and less intuitive than heading northbound - now there's a surprise, eh? Taxis will drop you off at the third floor but the processing facilities on this level are only for Chinese nationals; expatriates will need to go down one level, and the stairs are well hidden. The whole complexx (or is that "hole complex"?) is a complete mess of tiny junk shops and 'Duty Free' stalls in dimly lit, grimy corridors. When you get to the corridor ("Passage Seven") the usual emigration facilities require the usual queueing for 40 minutes while you watch the bored officials at the empty desks reserved for "APEC Travel Permits" and Diplomats. Since when do diplomats cross borders by a 60 minute train ride and walking 300 metres? After crossing the foot bridge, passing the even more bored Chinese border guard sitting right by the very middle of the bridge, the Hong Kong side is rather surprisingly also a little bit confusing with misleading signs. No queueing though, and immigration and customs are passed in just a couple of minutes. The 'exit' is traight into the Lo Wu KCR station. There are trains to Hong Kong every 3 to 5 minutes, but getting across to Hong Kong Island takes a surprisingly long time as you will need to change at either Hung Hom or Tsim Sha Tsui - both are easy connections. All in all it takes about an hour to complete the crossing, and then around another hour to get into Hong Kong. It seemed to take a lot less time and an easier process heading the other way. KCRC (Kowloon Canton Railway) operates domestic as well as cross-boundary passenger services to the mainland China. To go to Shenzhen, simply take a train to Lo Wu Station (the mainland boundary), and walk pass the immigration counters. It take 30 mins travelling from Hung Hom terminus to Lo Wu Station. It seems that everyone over here keeps stressing that the ferry is the coolest way to get to HK. Well, it's not the best option if you're going to Disneyland or the interior of HK. You're better off taking a luxury bus that goes there directly. Just outside the departure gates, you'll find a cushy lounge called Trans-Island China Link for direct coaches to HK. Here's a breakdown of the prices: Prince Edward MTR HK$90 Disneyland Hk$150 Wan Chai Ferry Terminal HK$100 The bus goes to Macau as well, but it didn't come cheap at about HK$170(?) You're better off taking the ferry I feel. They've got a website as well. From the looks of it, there were barely any folks there so advance booking does not seem to be necessary. Leave a Comment

If you flight Airasia either from KL or Bangkok to Macau, you can take the macau airport bus (AP1) to Praca das Portas do Cerco (Border gate to China). The bus will stop at gound level of the border gate, which is the last stop of the bus. Then you walk across the border, and you get into Zuhai, China. You go straight untill you see a bus stop called Gong Bei Bus Station. You can get the bus from here to Shenzhen. It will cost you around RMB85. I takes between 3 to 4 hours. This is another easy way to get to Shenzhen but, the last ferry is at 7.30pm. We caught the ferry back from Shenzhen to Kowloon City. There is also a ferry service to Hong Kong Airport and Macau from Shenzhen. Go to Fu Yong Ferry Terminal. There is a free bus shuttle service at Shenzhen airport to the terminal. From the counter at the airport you can buy your ferry ticket and organise the bus shuttle. Fu Yong is about 5 minutes by bus from the airport. The turbo jet takes about an hour. Cost: 202 Yuan I have included scanned a scanned of the turbojet brochure which has time schedules, destinations etc(there are 4 pages). You could also click on link below.

There is a new airport located just next to the town of Fuyong and about 1 hour drive from Shenzhen. This airport receives both domestic and international flights to Shenzhen. From 2006, the budget airlines Tiger Air flies from Singapore directly to Shenzhen. Leave a Comment

One easy way to get from Hong Kong airport to Shenzhen is to catch the CTS bus. The buses do take large cases. Buses leave for Shenzhen and Guangzhou every hour but be warned the last bus from the airport is at 10pm. Go to the CTS section of the airport. The bus ticket from Hong Kong airport to Shenzhen was US $14 or HK$100. The journey itself was fairly uneventful. You arrive at customs basically walk through and then the bus drops you off at the bus terminal. (Which seems at night time in the middle of nowhere!) From the bus terminal you catch a taxi to your hotel or a connecting bus to Shenzhen Bao An International Airport. We arrived in Hong Kong at 10pm – by 12pm we were in our bed in Shenzhen! I have included a scanned copy of the CTS Express Coach brochure (there are two pages!). Theme: Bus
