Popular Warnings or Dangers | Other Warnings or Dangers Tips | All Tips (9) Especially around Chinese New Year, lots of thieves moving around, so have a pocket inside your pants or in other good place to keep your money. (be careful of full busses).
Even at the main shopping street you might have someone following you and looking through the stuff on your backbag or pockets!
Thief techniques that Ive seen here myself:
#1. Crowded bus, thief pretends to fixing their shoes and bending down and leaning on you a bit. While leaving on you, he is checking your pockets with other hand. (you wont feel it since he is leaning against your leg.)
#2. Crowded bus, thief is standing next to you, holding a shirt/jacket over his other hand.
so you cannot see his hand while he is opening your bag.
#3. Street, thief is walking behind you on the street and checking your backbag. They are professional and you wont notice it.
Notes: Other people dont usually do anything if they see it happen, although its not easy to see it anyway. Leave a Comment

If you pay with bigger money like 50rmb or so,
be sure to check how much change you get back. Taxi drivers also can try give you less that you should get. Small shops have tried to cheat me few times, not giving enough back. Also you might get back fake money,

When crossing the border at Macau and going for Zhuhai it can take a while, when on foot as we did ...
Be sure you will have the right papers for your visa, otherwise you have waited for nothing!
And it is strictly forbidden to take any photographs here and around the border.
Just donot try! Even you think you are out of sight ...
When so please be prepared your (expensive) equipment will be rudely treated, even possibly destroyed! Leave a Comment

A well-known problem anywhere ... pickpockets
Where there is a lot of crowd there will be found many pickpockets, too! Alas!
So showing your cash is wrong!
Try to keep your cash seperate in case you are the unlucky one.
Be aware of children hanging around you ... not all kids are that cute!
Also TAKE CARE when travelling by bus!
Never ever leave your luggage, or you bags unattended!
And in case you do see pickpockets doing their actions...
so sad and sorry to tell you, but
DONOT TRY TO STOP THEM!
Just around the corner the whole group of the pickpockets will wait for you, and beat you up ... Leave a Comment

The language in Zhuhai is the Cantonese. And as a foreigner it is something to struggle with the language barrier...
Donot just think you are the best because of succeeding by talking with the locals in their language anywhere in the world, 'cause in China it is a real different thing!
It is quite demanding for trying to understand the customs and habits of the Chinese so make sure you know where to go. And what to do in China. You could buy some Tourist info books, or even the Virtual Tourist Book, so you wil enjoy some of your plans ... (there are some small books in Chinese - Roman language). Last Chinese New Year one people died and many injured during the fireworks on the seaside. (burning pieces falling into the streets full of people and one of the firework shops caught in fire and the fireworks exploded on the street.)
[also many thiefs in the city these times,

Some of the money beggers types:
* Small kids selling flowers
(sometimes they grab in to your leg and wont leave until you pay, or if you can wait long enough. usually at front of mcdonalds or at the seaside)
* Old people
(sometimes follow you long time,
you can go inside a shop if nothing else helps.)
* 'My money was stolen'-people
(usually near at the macau gate, saying their stuff were stolen and no money left, and need some money for food/telephone call etc)
Others:
* Real homeless people
* Handicapped/disabled people placed on the streets to collect money (especially on chinese new year time) Leave a Comment

This place is not safe for solitary travelers. I was walking on broad daylight in one of their streets when I felt someone was close behind my back. When I looked back, I saw a Chinese guy attempting to open my backpack. It's so disappointing that people around you don't care if you're being robbed.
