Many travellers are a little sceptical about eating from street stalls, but I think eating from this one is very safe and certainly a must do. I am not sure of the name if the stall or even if it has one - basically it is located on the street beside the 99 supermarket and the stalls are set up on the road after about 7pm. This lady along with her husband and son makes "the best" dumplings (jaozi) and noodles. They are 2.5 yuan each although they often charge foreigners 3 or 4 yuan. The dumplins come in a little bamboo steamer, they are usually steaming away already so can be eaten straight away. If you get the noodles and dont want msg added - just say "mayo wayjing". She is use to foreigners! The lady is very sweet, and not at all agressive like some others. Sit down at the little tables and enjoy the experience.
The dumplings or the flour noodles which they make in front of you (they shave the noodles into the hot pot) and top it with a spicy heat sauce. Sooo good. Many a nights I stopped hear on my way home or should I say in the early hours of the morning. We were thinking to have a snack so we ordered onion ring and steamed dumplings. It was so yummy and the amount wasn't small and we were so full after this. This meal was only less than 30yuan including the local beer 7yuan only!! Kelly's is basically where all the local foreigners eat. It is excellent food, great value for money, clean and great environment. Kelly speaks great english and is very friendly. Also a good place to meet local foreigners or get advice from locals.Most food is between 5-15 yuan
(A$1-3).

This is super cheap, spend 2 Dollars american and you will be stuffed. Buy anything here from anykind of meat, vegetables and many different seafood. Most things are 1-3RMB. This bbq area is right beside the bus station and is open un till about 2am.

Cafe Under the Moon, located on West Street in Yangshuo Town, serves some very good omelettes for breakfast, loaded with meat and vegetables... When order fresh juice, be sure to ask if it's all 100 percent juice or if they put water in it... Then they will bring you 100 percent juice... But if you don't ask, they will probably mix water in with the juice, and most restaurants in Yangshuo follow this same scheme... In the photo shown here, I'm enjoying a good breakfast at the Blue Bird Cafe, located in the heart of West Street in Yangshuo... Blue Bird Cafe is one of many cafes which offer approximately the same selection of foods, typically omelettes, pancakes and the like... This place had very good omelettes... They also serve various alcoholic drinks if you want to drop by later in the evening... Dynasty of Dumplings provides northern-style dumplings to Yangshuo in a small but pleasant restaurant just off the main drag. The wooden exterior opens to a warm, family environment, and the TV will probably be on. They have a good selection of dumplings, many of which I believe are served 12 per order, plus many other items. Beer and other drinks are reasonably priced.
We had the pork and the lamb dumplings. As good as Harbin's!
There are three sauces to deal with- one is soy sauce, the second is vinegar, I believe, and the third is the pot of crushed chili peppers. Mix those for dipping, to taste, in the provided plate. went to Meiyou Cafe twice, 1st time before the crowds arrived for the Oct 1st golden week holiday. It was about 12 noon and relatively quiet. Meiyou cafe had one table set up outside the restaurant, with other tables turned upside down. The weather was beautiful and I wanted to sit outside, so I asked the waiter (in Mandarin Chinese) for a table outside, pointing at the 4 wooden tables turned upside down. Think he was being really lazy coz he said that it was against the law for people to sit outside the restaurant, when I asked him why it was ok for this American couple to sit outside, he said because they are white, so I started arguing with him, telling him I'm American and I speak English, but why would he be racially prejudiced against his own? honestly, don't think it was a race issue here, he was just being damn lazy,... so I left.
2 days later I was back, same place, all 5 tables set up outdoor, this time I was looking at their sign advertising breakfast, this was 11:30 a.m., I asked for toast & etc., the waitress (different person this time) told me can't you see we are really busy (I was sitting at 1 of the 5 tables set up outside, no one was sitting inside), can you order something else?
came here coz Lonely Planet recommended this place "Meiyou cafe promised don't have bad service" and is delivered seemingly forever.
guess the restaurant got too popular for their own good, there are plenty of other good restaurants in Yangshuo, avoid this one
