During the autumn time(from Sep to Nov), the local people have a full enthusiasm to eat the river crab. The best crab is breeded in a lake called Yang Cheng Hu, located in the city of Kunshan where not far from Shanghai. The size is smallar than the ocean crab, but the taste is better than any food. Normally the whole crab will be served after steaming. There is also an unique way to eat the whole crab with the bone left which still can be able to asembled to its original look. It is also a chanllenge to western people as it requires you to eat with your mouth, teech and hand only. No fork, knife and even chopsticks to be served. Can you have a try? Lots of restaurants offer crab meal during that period of time. And you can also buy them from the market with a cheaper price. Leave a Comment

For the average person learning English, I doubt this would be in the exercise book. it made me laugh how the Chinese use certain translations for things which we wouldnt dream of using! Question..who comes up with these translations, and how much do they get paid?!!!! Just realised the picture hasnt come out well.It says on the packet 'Herbal Conk Mask'! Leave a Comment

On the way back, I see several elder men playing the diabolo on the grass ground. Diabolo is a traditional sports game for locals. Nowadays there aren’t so many people practicing it, except for those retiring elders. To me, it also likes a memory left in my childhood. I take a seat and sit there for watching those men playing. The body instantly turns swift as a finger, playing the toy in the front or back with only a connection of a rope, like sewing. Sometimes the diabolo spins off to the air or on their hand. No wonder why Chinese is good at gymnastics. Through the conversation with one man, I get to know he has practices it only for three years. Leave a Comment

It was very interesting to read about the controversy about the Nanjing Bridge and the documentary made by the Italian filmmaker Antonioni in relation to the filming of the bridge and people's washing lines. What was the first thing I saw at the foot of the bridge as we went to walk up on it but washing hung out in the middle of the busy road on a tree leading to the bridge. Where the owner was who knows but there it was. Bit poetic/ironic given the history of the bridge don't you think? ...and I am not making this up!!

Visit a silk-embroidery factory. Here, everything is done by hands & feet. Interesting to observe how the ancient method has been preserved & still in use to this date. Leave a Comment

Only regret was that I didn't have a calculator to figure out the exchange amounts. Cash was easier than VISA. Leave a Comment
