  • One warning which can never be left out is the one about crocodiles. When you're in their habitat you always have to be aware and alert to a possible attack. Just the other day a man was attacked by a 4 metre long croc not all that far from Field Island - in the East Alligator River. He was injured only, but the croc was hunted down and killed. It's a reminder that when you're in the croc's territory you're on his menu as well.

  • Can't stress it enough, bring plenty of fresh water. There's none on the island and if you get stranded for any reason you could be in dire straits. There's no mobile phone connection with the outside world, you're well and truely out of range.

    There's a big tidal movement around the island, up to 7 metres in height. If you don't watch it you could end up being stranded out of water for many hours. And worse still, have no water around your boat to keep fishing to fill in time.
