 | Uluru National Park (Ayers Rock) Shopping | Tips 1 - 7 of 7 | | Popular Shopping | Other Shopping Tips | All Tips (7) One of the things you should really shop for while you are in Uluru is the Aboriginal art from real Aboriginal artists. There were several different shops within the resort, as well as plenty of other shops located at the cultural center in the National Park. There are pieces from 20 AUD up to 10,000AUD for purchase in these locations, depending on size and style. One of the locations is Craftworks which is located in the heart of the Ayers Rock Resort. There was some beautiful art here. Leave a Comment

Maruku Gallery and Walkatjara Art Centre are located in the Cultural Central in Uluru - Kata Tjuta National Park. Just browse around and enjoy the the original crafts and artefacts of the Anangu Aboriginals from the south east and west of Central Australia. You will find something you like and it will always remember you to this very special place on earth. You will find a range of carved crafts like desert animals, wooden bowls, music sticks, boomerangs and hunting spears. Or the ceramic arts, paintings or other crafts. See for more info: www. maruku.com.au www.desart.com.au If you intend to buy an Aboriginal 'souvenir', don’t wait till the departure hall of the airport, it does have only the average touristy stuff.
We loved specially the Aboriginal paintings; because we had to travel still a lot, we had to decide to buy just a small one.
We paid only AUD 14,- You can find artefacts and crafts from a couple of dollars to a huge amount of money. Leave a Comment

Everything can be settled here - groceries (it's possibly the cheapest here), postal services, banking, day trips, souvenirs hunting and meals. This is effectively the centre of the town of Yulara. Leave a Comment

If you are a soda drinker, go to the gas station in Yulara where they sell it for $3.50 AUD for a 2 L bottle. Considering they sell smaller for more than that price in the various cafes, its well worth it(especially since our hotel room had a fridge). Theme: Food and Drink

Other people probably think this is corny and wouldn't waste their time, but there is an "Uluru Walker's Certificate" that you can purchase from the Cultural Centre as a small momento of your trip (it was less than $2 AUD if I remember correctly). It has a picture of both Uluru and Kata Tjuta, and you just fill in your name and check off the boxes for all the hikes you were able to do, and you can have a "witness" sign it. I actually had the driver of our Uluru Express shuttle sign it for me. It makes a good inexpensive souvenir and it's one that kids would probably like too. I have my certificate saved in my scrapbook.

Definately go to the grocery store! You can buy a nice lunch or dinner or breakfast without paying an arm and a leg. I bought food here for every meal except one. And i bought several little jams and jellies to take back to the US as souvenirs. Great stuff! Juice boxes, fruit, cereal, thongs (flip flops), you name, they have it! Plus, the post office, souvenir shop, bookstore, and bank are right in the same corner.

About a 10 minute walk from the resort (free shuttle ride), there is a small shopping area. It has a few souvenir stores, a restaurant or two and a supermarket. It is worth checking out.
Go to the supermarket to get drinks and snacks. The souvenir store had a better selection of things than the Outback Pioneer. Theme: Food and Drink
