 | Barbados Shopping | Tips 1 - 10 of 38 | | Popular Shopping | Other Shopping Tips | All Tips (38) A shop packed full of different flavoured cakes - a cake lovers heaven!! Very friendy and helpful ladies too! When we went in they had samples of several cakes - such as lemon and ginger, chocolate, vanilla and all with a hint of rum!! I say hint, because when I studied the box after purchasing one, it stated "maximum 0.5% rum"!!! Not much chance of failing the breathalyser here!! The lemon and ginger one I brought back to the office was soon demolished - a success I think!!
The largest cake was on offer at $17, and the medium size was $11. Good value. Leave a Comment Theme: Food and DrinkAddress: Bridgetown Port area, BarbadosPhone: 1-800-480-6337Website: www.calypsorumcake.com

You can shop tax/duty free in lots of shops. You need to show your passport and white immigration card and you will pay the tax free price. And you will have your item right away. The all you have to do is to drop some forms into a box as you leave the airport. The shops trust you to do this and it is important as the shops will have to absorb the loss (pay the tax or duty) from any customers who don't do this.
You can shop for any imported goods and local or imported spirits tax/duty free. The only thing is that for spirits and tobacco, these will have to be delivered to the airport for you to pick up on departure.

These shops carry only high quality and well designed gifts all "made or designed in Barbados". I always prefer to buy gifts for the folks back home that were actually made at the place where I am visiting. This place is a cornecopia of really nice local gifts. They have water colour prints of the islands, ranges of kitchen and tableware accessories, jewellery, T-shirts and children's clothing, cookery books, board games, pottery, stationery, glass, ceramics and much more. One of the more recent projects was the production of the video Beautiful Barbados.
The nicest thing I bought was the locally produced place mats which were on our breakfast talbe every morning. They are very useful. I also got T-shirts, a Bajan game that the children play, a pot holder and a watercolor of the chattel houses. I got emerald jewelry for my daughter whose birthday is in May from the Columbian Emerald outlet in the store. I had the crystal shipped, and it arrived in good shape Leave a Comment

I thought this place sounded interesting so we tracked it down. Daphne had womens clothing made on the island, hand painted clothing, T-shirts that could have the picture of your choice applied, pictures frames, shell mirrors, ceramic ornaments, scarves and many other items. I bought some clothing and T-shirts.
It took us awhile to find this place, but the road where it is had more on it than the one in this picture. You will find fruit stalls all over Barbados selling fresh fruit, including oranges, melons and pineapples. The fruit is fresh and tastes great! The prices are quite high for tourists, because the moment they see that you're not a local, the price roughly doubles. I know this because my dad usually gets a local to buy his fruit for him, and its a lot, lot cheaper than when i bought it! However, once the stall owners start remembering you, the price does go down a little.
Varies from stall to stall. Leave a Comment Theme: Food and DrinkDirections: All over the island, at the side of the road.

The Chattel Village is on the main road through Holetown, close to a shopping centre. It is a quaint and colourful little complex, made up of individual chattel houses, each one a different shop. You can buy a whole range of souvenirs here, including pictures, t-shirts, CDs, food - you name it, they have it. It's a great place to browse for any gifts you want to bring home.
You can get just about anything at the Chattel Village - it's a one-stop shop for souvenirs! Leave a Comment Theme: Local Craft

Are you one of those people who have a lot of time and money? Or are you like me... constantly short on time and money? Whether you are the first, second, or a combination of both categories Little Switzerland has something for you. It is the premier centre for duty-free shopping in the Caribbean with such stores as Cartier, Tag-Heuer, Swiss Army, Movado, Swatch, Breitling, and Baum & Mercier. If the choices are too overwhelming, simply ask for a free Personal Shopper to pick things out for you.
Just like big Swizerland, Little Switzerland is nown for their superb watches
They sell 'high-class' merchandise. Although it is expensive, it is less than most places. Leave a Comment Theme: OtherAddress: Hinks Street

You will see the colourful Earthworks Pottery sold all over the island, but I would recommend that you take a trip up to the pottery itself. Here you can see the potters at work and choose from the range of pots that are stacked from floor to ceiling in the shop. I hardly knew where to start looking! The pottery is on a complex with other souvenir shops selling art and batik, but these were more expensive than Earthworks.
You can buy anything from a tiny animal ornament made from left-over clay to a full dinner service. Shipping can be arranged to anywhere in the world (just in case you get carried away and can't fit your goodies into your suitcase to bring home!)
Anything from BDS$2 for a small ornament, BDS$8-10 for a plate, BDS$30 for a vase - there is something for all budgets. Leave a Comment

These shops carry genuine local handmade products. I realized that Barbados has many manufacturers and they produce lovely top quality stuff. BE CAREFUL!! BEFORE you buy double check that the product is locally made....there are many places in Barbados selling souvenirs as "locally made" just because they have "barbados" printed....is a trick, most of these souvenirs are coming from CHINA or THAILAND. Barbados products have imprinted or labelled "MADE IN BARBADOS". It is a fact that I bought a picture frame with "Barbados" on it from a "chattel house" shop in Holetown (west coast) which I returned, very upset, because I realized was not locally made but made "for" Barbados...very unfair!! The name of this shop is very deceiving too!!
Pottery from many artisans with beautiful colors Glassware ,unique! Dolls in fabric Wood carved /mahogany products very nice Jewellery
