Tourist Busses
The tourist busses are frequent and popularly used from San Jose, as well as from Jaco, Punatarenas, and Manuel Antonio. It is the easiest way to get to and from Sarchí, and is also the most comfortable way to do so. Many hotels and tour companies in San Jose have busses and vans frequently bringing tourists to Sarchí, mostly to get cheap handcrafts.

    Handicrafts
In Sarchi there are great handicrafts. In most of the store they are made and painted right in front of you. Sarchi is best known for their ox carts.

Souvenirs should be purchased in Sarchi because they are very cheap. Since you are buying them from the source, they are 30-70% cheaper than in the airport or the city. Also, you are helping the local economy/people.

    Local Craft Shops
We took an afternoon tour that included a visit to Sarchi. This is the place to go if you are interested in purchasing Costa Rican arts and crafts. All of the shops are within walking distance of each other and will ship your purchase back to the United States. If you have the money, I recommend purchasing one of Costa Rica's famous oxcarts. They are all unique and extravagantly painted. They come in all sizes and colors. There are also several local restaurants that serve traditional Costa Rican cuisine. They are within walking distance of the shops. We went to an open-air restaurant and had delicious Casada that was served on a banana leaf. This tour was booked through www.centralamerica.com.
