 | Kornati Islands National Park Restaurants | Tips 1 - 7 of 7 | | Popular Restaurants | Other Restaurants Tips | All Tips (7) After swimming all day in crystal clear water, one gets hungry. And somehow dazzled. Had to plunge deeper into Kornati experience. Can't do that with macaroni or salami and bread. We heard about Ante, his sincere passion for great food. So we picked up his mooring and went ashore to see what's on the menue. Nothing. Everything is on large plates near old scale. Some shrimps still moving. Then you point your finger on something you fancy for dinner, they weight the pile, place it on separate plate with paper baring your name and the weight of your "catch". Then you enjoy suffering with hungry belly looking at their chef du grill caressing your fish with rosemary branch dipped into olive oil. But then you get to eat fabulous meal.
Octopuss salad Grilled fish, scampi, squid I was hoping to taste their famous Venetian Octopuss dish, but we were too late to order - at least 3 hours in advance. Will do next time. This was the best lobster we ever tasted : it was coming directly from the sea to our dish ! No intermediary, no time wasted ! Ready to taste with some olive oil and lemon and nothing else. It is absolutely delightful.
A Great Experience which memory will last lifelong ! Leave a Comment Theme: SeafoodAddress: Vrujle

Some more shade, some more drink, awaiting for the lobsters to cook. No matter how long it will take, here, there is no use to hurry ! The home made wine from Murter is good and cool, the shade is cool too !
Cook me a living lobster and I don't need anything else ! Leave a Comment Theme: SeafoodAddress: Downtown VruljeDirections: You cannot miss that place !

The island of R.Zakan is located a few miles northwest of Lojena Bay, where I wrote about the Piccolo restaurant. This island was chosen by Club Mediterrannee many years ago to build one of their first cottage villages. According to the Pilot I was using, the village still exists, and you needed to ask permission from the management if you wanted to anchor in their bay. We choose to pick up a mooring on the pier, on the other side of the island. All there was left of the Club, was one cottage and a laugh from the local owner, saying the Club had been gone fo more than 10 years! A local built a small restaurant on that spot and some very small appartments which you can rent nowadays. The other restaurant is the Konoba Zakan. This is where we decided to go to as their location with view over the boats was fabulous. All I can remember is that we had some delicious meat and alot of alcohol. Especially after dinner when local people invited us for "Raki". A local drink that looks like water, tastes like more, and contains more than 40% alcohol. Once the locals invite you, wherever you are, you can be sure to have a great night. During summer time (July-August) this place must be very crowded. By the mooring off the pier is free of charge, but you must pay 15 Kuna per person for the Kornati National Park.
Great soft and tasty meat, and RAKI! Leave a Comment Theme: LocalPrice: US$21-30 » Currency ConverterComparison: more expensive than averageAddress: Facing the pier with all the boats

On V.Smokica, an isalnd in the Kornati archipelago, there is a small bay calles Loijena. You can either trow out your anchor in the bay or choose to pick up a mooring off the pier. All there is in this little village are a few summer houses and a small local restuarant. A second one was nearly finishes, so if you come next year is will be ready. The food is great but ofcourse everything besides the fish has come from the mainland which implicates prices being higher than what you would expect.
We had a choice of different starters e.g. marinated tunafish, squid, shrimps and local cheese. Afterwards we went for the spaghetti with seafood. I wanted to have a meal at Opat since I heard and read so many appraisals about their cuisine. We picked up their mooring and went up towards restaurant to see what they have today and to make a reservation - even though far from civilisation, this place is very popular. After chatting with the staff, we decided to order a plate of cold entrees to help us survive until the evening.
This plate was one very special surprise. On the picture from left, clockwise from the top: fish pate, anchovies preserved in salt, homemade tuna preserve, dried tuna, marinated raw anchovies, tuna salad, swordfish and tuna carpaccio (sashimi, raw). Delicious, feast for taste-buds, some of these dishes we tasted for the first time. Double portion on the picture costs 80 Kunas = 11 Euros = 13 USD Superb! Later in the evening, we ordered fish and potatoes baked in a wood burning oven, very good but rather expensive.
