 | Moscow Moscow Metro Reviews | Tips 1 - 10 of 64 | | No visit to Moscow is complete without visiting its metro stations. The metro, yes. The metro staions display true underground museums! They are really beautiful and very clean. Full of elegant designs and lavish and profuse use of marble, mosaics, sculptures and chandeliers. Built during Stalin's rule, these metro stations were supposed to display the best of Soviet architecture and design and show how privileged the lifestyle of the Russian people was. Some of the most amazing metro stations in Moscow are the Mayakovskaya Station , the Novokusnetskaya Station , the Novoslobodskaya Station and the Kropotkinskaya Station, among many others. If you go to Moscow, there is no way to avoid using the metro there. It is easy and there is english transkription in each train on the mapt that are inside. You will not see latin letters in the corridors of the metro where there are the other signs. So I would advise you to studey the cyrilic alphabet, anf then it will be you hear what you read. I also could advise you to buy a card depending on how long you are there for. For example the card for 1 month - no limitation of using the trains is about $15 (cheap,a?), and there are some more type of cards. For 10, 20, and 60 usages. 60 for example costs about 7-8$. The underground is the fastest and most convinient type of transport for such a megacity as Moscow. The idea of creation of the underground in Moscow has arisen at the beginning of the 20th century. Presently, the Moscow underground unites more than 150 stations and is the basic kind of a municipal transportation. Some stations look as real underground palaces. Moscow's metro stations aren't just metro stations. They are masterpieces. They really are underground museums. One after another you'll see how amazingly beautiful many stations are. The construction of Moscow's metro system started in 1933 with the intention to build the best metro of the world....did they make it? I think so! Now Moscow's metro system has 11 lines, 160 stations and it's about 260 km long. It's also the best way to move around the city: it's cheap (in Summer of 2004 one ride was about 30 Euro cents) and the frequence of trains is about 90 seconds! And when a city is that big, believe me, the metro is the best solution! Leave a Comment

The best metro stations ever seen. Everyone knows it: marble, statues, paintings. History is inside the stations and metro is part of the history of Moscow and very efficient way of transportation. 10 rides are sold for 125 RUR (3.79 EUR) at march 2006. Leave a Comment Address: Which address? It's metro!Directions: My favourites are Arbatskaya, Ploschad Revolutzi and Park Pobedy.

Moscow's subway deserves to be strongly appraised. It is fast, efficient and many stations are true tourist attractions (especially the ones in central Moscow). It is also the best way to go around the city. It can take you to nearly everywhere in the city, and it really isn't expensive. A funny remark about it is the sentence that you hear every time the doors are about to shut (Ostorojno, dvieri zakriyvayutsya). After a few hundred times listening to that, you know you'll have that sentence in your head for the rest of your life. :) Leave a Comment

Moscow metro stations are worth having a closer look at and it is especially nice to do so when it's cold or rainy outside. And it costs you just 15 Rubels (March, 2006). There are some really nice ones on the circle line. But others in the center are interesting too. The photo was taken at Smolenskaya. The metro is not just to get from A to B but also for sightseeing itself. There are lots of interesting stations. Of course the authorities don't like it so much if one takes pictures but I think it's best to take them when it's not so crowded, no militsia around and be quick and I prefer to do it without flash. Of course, there is CCTV everywhere, so they will know that people take pics. Leave a Comment

Not the club in St.Petersburg, but the underground system in Moscow. This is one of the architectural wonders in Russia which is effectively free (the price of an underground ticket). The picture opposite could be from the Hermitage or from any world-class museum of any worth. Instead it is at Pushinksaia tube station and the statue is naturally Pushkin. Awesome. Leave a Comment Address: Pushkinsaia metro.
