Well known for the many Landau's that are always ready to take you for a jaunt along the front with the sea breeze in your hair and the smell of candy floss in the air. Many years since I had a ride in one of these so I cant say how much they cost, but if you have never tried it, have a go, well you are in Blackpool are'nt you?? Leave a Comment Theme: Other

Blackpool has been famous for a long time for it's trams. Like nearly all British cities the place had an extensive network stemming from the Victorian era. In the years following the second world war every British city tore up its tracks rather than invest in their cities infrastructure : except Blackpool. These days there is only one route, but it does go right along the front of the city by the sea, before diverting a little in land at the Northern end to reach Fleetwood. Whilst slow and lumbering, they make for an excellent way to see the city, and as virtually everything you would want to use in Blackpool is strung out along the miles of front it is very useful as well. Just one little tip ; make sure you board one of the double decker trams, it imporoves the view. Leave a Comment Theme: Other

Blackpool does have an airport, and it is only three miles out of town. It has Ryanair flights from Dublin, Girona and Stansted. It may expand services in time, but other flights are all charter ones. This could provide a route in, but you are more likely to be able to use scheduled flights to Manchester and Liverpool airports, which are both only a skip and a jump away. There is also a weekly flight to Tenarife. Somewhar ironic I think as it was charter flights such as these that all but destroyed the tradional seaside British Holiday. Leave a Comment

I drove in a rental. It was about 2-3 hrs from Wolverhampton (outside of Birmingham). There is a main car park right by the amusment park. I know there are trains, but you'll have to look at someone else's transportation recommendations Walking! Leave a Comment Theme: Car/Motor Home

A lot of towns and cities have these trolley buses but they call them trams now. I thought they were a thing of the past except for in Blackpool as they have been there for years. The best thing about Blackpool trams is that during November when the "illuminations" are on, nearley everyone of them is decked out differently, ie as a ship or a rocket all done in lights, that whats makes them special to me. This is not a real transport tip, but I had to take the picture. If you look closely on the side of the plane you will spot a famous name of an airline company. I thought it quite amusing! Leave a Comment Theme: Airplane

Everyone visiting Blackpool must have a trip on a tram. They travel 12 miles along the promenade and its wonderful to see them all lit up at night, either looking like a sailing ship or a steam engine. As a child I remember we had walked that much up Blackpool's promenade that we needed to get a tram back, and no matter how tired out legs and feet were, we wanted to wait for the 'best looking' tram. The trams were started in Blackpool in September 1885. It was the first electric street tramway in Britain. I have heard recently that Blackpool Council is to spend at lot of money (millions) on investing in new trams, tracks and also additional lines. Leave a Comment Theme: Bus
