Somewhere to sit and watch the world go by, and there are many such places in Norfolk - by the sea, in the countryside, by rivers, in historic buildings, in wonderful cafes.....
Norfolk is great because it is sooooo relaxed and the relaxation is contagious, I just love being there. Leave a Comment

Another thing we did was to drive along the A-149 which is the road that runs along the northern shore of East Anglia between King's Lynn and Cromer. The road winds past small villages and you're never far from the sea. It's an excellent area for bird spotting and there are many nature conservation areas. The Peddars Way and Norfolk Coast Path give good access to the dune-like scenery to long distance walkers. Don't forget your binoculars! This picture shows the vintage steam train on the line between Holt and Sheringham. Leave a Comment

The seals at Blakeney Point. The colony of seals was approximately 500 strong. We saw them basking on the sand banks at Blakeney Point. They were also seen swimming along side the boat. One seal came into the harbour and followed the boat out to the sand banks. The seals looked healthy despite the reports in the news at our holiday time that the seals were suffering the distemper virus. We only saw one carcus which the captain of the boat said was usually assossicated with the colony oustersizing the seal which then died on it's own. The best aspect of our journey to see the seals was being able to see them doing what comes naturally to them, without being held within the confines of a zoo.
Our first cottage will be inprinted in my mind for along time. It is probably the best ever cottage we stayed in!! You will see the picture's of 'Keeper's Cottage', which was so well equipped you could easily find plenty to keep you entertained. There were woods to explore; as well as the farmers fields which were busy with the harvest. The wildlife was great to watch as well, the boys found moles, stouts, rabbits and a variety of birds including woodpeckers and wood pigeons. I wish we had stayed two weeks there!! Leave a Comment
