  • Tip Rating:
  • This little ferry will save you time and petrol if traveling by car,and will save you having to drive around the river.located at Reedham.
it runs most of the year, but be prepared for ques in the summer time as it is popular with the locals too.

    The Cromer Road Runner!
  • Tip Rating:
  • This bright & cheerful looking 2 carriage tourist train will transport you between Cromer pier & the large 'pay & display' car park on the outskirts of town on the way to Sheringham. And it will return you when ready too!

I didn't use it, but the prices seemed reasonable for the journey which would probably take a brisk 15 minutes to walk (& partly uphill!) I think it was about £2 per adult (reductions for children & the elderly - under 3 year olds go free). I am not sure if that was for a single or return trip though!

It looked fun & inviting & the driver was a cheerful looking chap - well he smiled for my picture anyway!!

    Worth the money
  • Tip Rating:
  • While travelling around the Norfolk Broads you may be tempted to take the much longer road route to avoid paying to cross on the Reedham Ferry.

    Don't!

You'll save yourself miles by using the ferry and have a very pleasureable crossing.

It only takes a few minutes (unless it's a busy day as it's a chain ferry that only holds a few cars and there is sometimes a queue) but it's something you'll be unlikely to experience very often.

    Norwich Park & Ride
The city of Norwich is a delight to visit and a nightmare to park in so it's just as well that Norfolk County Council has embraced the Park & Ride system so thoroughly.

The city is surrounded by six Park & Ride sites so whichever main road you approach Norwich on you will come across one.

It is so easy, greener and cheaper than driving into the city centre - a scheme that benefits all. Park your car in a secure car park, get a colour-coded bus (so you know which car park you're in!) in, enjoy Norwich and then get a bus back to your car.

Daily rate £2.80 per vehicle (that's parking and the bus journey, bargain eh?)

    Park and Ride
If you want to go to Norwich and you are driving, use the Park and Ride. This is outside of town and then you can take the bus into the city centre. Its much easier to get around and cuts down on traffic and time traveling.

    Boating on the Norfolk Broads
A very popular holiday past-time is to hire a boat on the Norfolk Broads. Boats can be hired in an size from a small craft sleeping two people to a luxury vessel with room enough for 10 or 12 people.

The boats can be hired for the day or week, and many people get a group of friends together to share a larger boat and spread the cost. This works out the most cost effective way, as it is really quite expensive to hire one of the smaller crafts just for two people.

Many companies offer this past time, which has been in operation since the turn of the last century!

    Poppy Line
Travelling of the North Norfolk Railway Poppy Line makes a great and nostalgic day out for the whole family.

Trains travel between Sheringham and Holt through Weybourne and are usually under steam (although diesel engines are sometimes used and this is indicated in the timetable).

At the main stations you can get refreshments and souvenirs. Sheringham station is in the town and at Holt there is a lovely London red routemaster bus available to take you into the town centre. I love this, my grandad used to drive one. Don'y forget your camera!

There are special event days too - Beer Festival, Steam Gala, Santa, 40s weekend, murder on the Sheringham Express etc and details of these are on the website.

The trains run all day, every day in August and a more limited timetable outside the main holiday period. The service is run entirely by volunteers so your support is especially wlecome.
