Popular Sports Travel | Other Sports Travel Tips | All Tips (17) I went here some time ago (2001) for a friends Birthday and we had a fantastic time, I think I just about broke even. And we discovered that the bigger the dog the more likely it was to win the race, big emphasis on the more, not all the time.
There was a bar serving £1.50 pints, chips and gravy and that kind of food.
We made a few bets, mostly each way, when I was there you could put a minimum bet of £1 on so being poor students of course we did so.
At first, if you've never being to a place like that, it can seem a little daunting, but just talk to someone who look like they know what they're doing! It's very friendly atmosphere, everyone shares in with eachothers triumphs and tribulations.
Admission on the current website is £5 per adult. And race days are-
Monday - 18.00 - 23.00
Friday - 18.00 - 23.00
Saturday - 18.00 - 23.00
Tuesdays (special children free morning)
There is free parking or you could take bus numbers 44 and 45. To watch the match the only equipment you really need is a good strong voice to sing your club`s songs and encourage the team and your eyes to actually watch the game, some people do take a pair of binoculars if they sit far from the pitch.
Apart from the above the club s encourage you to buy their merchandise to enhance your matchday experience, you can buy virtually anything from hats and scarfs to the full blown replica kit, which generally is updated annually. Get yourself down to the City Ground and watch Forest play!
Nottingham Forest were (and still are!) a great team. We won the Europeean Cup in 1979 and 1980.
The City Ground is the home stadium of Nottingham Forest. It's about 15 minutes walk or 5 mins bus from the city centre - follow the red shirts!
Forest play roughly every other Saturday, with some mid-week evening matches. The season is August - April / May. Look at www.nottinghamforest.co.uk for details of the next game.
Tickets are £10 - £25 depending on the opposition. Sometimes there's one-offs such as 'All tickets a fiver' or 'Kids for a Quid' where children only pay £1. Look out for these. Students can get discounted tickets with an NUS card.
If it's cold, you will need a jumper and coat, plus gloves and a scarf. You can buy Nottingham Forest wooly hats and scarfs from their shop.
If it's raining, you might need a waterproof. All the seats are covered, but some of the people sitting nearer the pitch might get a bit wet.
Once there, buy a programme to find out team details, and at half-time buy a pie and a pint for the proper 'experience'. Trent Bridge is a Test cricket ground located in West Bridgford, Nottingham, England and is also the headquarters of Nottinghamshire County Cricket Club. One of the oldest cricket grounds in Britain, it was opened in 1838
It's one of the four ground use for test cricket in England.
It's also the third oldest ground behind Lord's (London) and Eden Gardens (Calcutta).
Even for the people who are not familliar with the game of cricket, Trent Bridge is worth seeing for the historical. For cricket fans Trent Bridge is probably the equivalent of the Montreal Forum (hockey) or the Yankees Stadium (baseball).
