Radford....Avoid this
area...Not a nice place

Although Nottingham is safe beware of some certain areas as every City has it bad points, try to avoid St Anns, Radford & Forest Fields areas at night, over the past two years or so there as been a number of gun crimes, aswell as some prostitution & drug problems in these areas. No disrespect to people who live in these areas but im sure you know about this problem.

Dont let this put you off though, you will find that there are some beautiful places in Nottingham so dont let this small problem put you off coming here.

You must be aware of the Trams allover Nottingham, you cannot always here them coming. Make sure you take care when crossing the roads in the town centre because sometimes there are trams & cars everywhere.

Nottingham's modern trams are very quiet, so you may not hear them coming. There are no fences to protect pedestrians from the tramlines, so whenever you walk across them, be sure to look both ways first.

around!!!!

Unfortunately there's a huge drug problem in Nottingham - violent crime is on the increase - avoid the St Ann's, Radford and Sneinton area at night.

	No Longer A Problem

I don't agree with some of the warnings about Big Issue sellers! That information is out of date! There aren't that many sellers and they rarely hassle passersby to buy their magazine. I've found them polite. Don't forget they are homeless but have chosen not to beg but try and earn money legally. The magazine can have some interesting articles.

	Nottingham in general

I hate to be negative. I've been in Nottingham for a great deal of my earlier life unfortunatley, but can I just say (and this is not meant disrespecfully to the thousands of lovley people who live here) but its just not the city it was. Going out on a Friday or Saturday night is as dangerous as jumping out of an aeroplane without a parachute! Your going to get hurt is what im trying to say. Groups of thugs, a high density of bars & clubs packed into what is NOT, and I must stress, Nottingham is NOT a city. Its a town. Theres too many people, filth everywhere, even the good areas are being brought down, so I dont have much to say thats good about Nottingham. Even the Robin Hood statue is damaged and abused on a regular basis.

Im sorry that this is negative, but it happens to what I beleive, to be the truth

Want to go to a nice city, try York, or Bath, Oxford, Cambridge

	Nottingham Crime Capital?

Ive lived in Nottingham for 10 years and in some of the more dangerous parts of the city like Radford. I have never had anything happen to me and I have always walked home at night. I know there are shootings but it is all between gangs. For tourists it is safer to avoid some areas like St Anns and the Meadows. My boyfriend lives near St Anns and has also walked home every night without any problems. A lot of the talk of Nottingham being a crime capital is hype.

	Gun and knife crime

Unfortunatley being a big city means that Nottingham has lots of crime - some very high profile crimes too. But, like every big city so long as you keep your wits about you and stick ot busy areas/take taxis and don't walk home etc you'll be fine. I've lived here all my life and never once seen anything happen or had anything happen because I'm sensible and don't venture to the 'dodgier' areas. I do know of one person who was pickpocketed but he admits he was really drunk and wasn't aware of what he was doing!

Nottingham has been nicknamed the gun crime capital of Britain, but compared to many cities around the world, the incidence of fatal shootings in Nottingham is very low. Also the few shootings that do occur tend to be confined to poorer residential areas, like St. Ann's and The Meadows, and not the commercial centre.

Nottingham does have the highest murder rate of any city in Britain, however, with 5.21 murders for every 100,000 population. The St. Ann's and Meadows areas are best avoided at night, as the most violent gangs are based in these areas. Just so you know where not to go: St. Ann's is to the north-east of Victoria bus station, while The Meadows is to the south of Nottingham train station.
