 | Edinburgh George Street Reviews | 1 - 10 of 32 | | An offshoot of its Glasgow sister-bar Edinburgh's candy bar serves up cocktails and a good food menu which includes Asian and tapas dishes. On a Friday and Saturday night this is where the trendy cute 20/early 30yr olds meet to flirt or just strut their stuff before going onto a club. The music can be pretty funky til the early hours when the dj will slip on some more chart friendly tracks and maybe the odd Elvis/Don Maclean number. A nice hang out before moving on, though be warned it can get a bit hot and busy at times. (Must admit this is one of my faves at the moment)
No strict code though bouncers will turn you away if you look too scruffy. You might want to dress to impress though... Leave a Comment Theme: OtherAddress: 113-115 George StreetPhone: 0131 225 9179Directions: West End of George Street next to The Living Room

Doesn't look much from the outside but this is currently one of the trendiest spots in the city. Somehow manages to be both very popular and busy but never takes more than a couple of minutes to be served at the bar. Often live piano music in the week and DJ at the weekend. Perhaps better for the 26+ yrs crowd but generally popular with everyone as a pre club bar. Open fairly late. Restaurant also looks good. The Grill room holds this bar's highlight - the ceiling, which gave the place it's name. It also has a large impressive looking well stocked bar in the centre of the room. The venue used to be a bank and looks like it's had a fortune spent on it. It also has a another bar in the building. Popular with the 30+ crowd in the evenings. A good place to go with te folks for sunday lunch. Next door is club whynot which was OK when I went many years ago but didn't make me want to rush back. http://www.thedomeedinburgh.com/

Not cheap but popular with the trendy set. This is where MTV held their after-party party in 2003. The dancefloor isn't huge and the music hardly cutting edge but it is a great place to have fun. The cocktails are superb with the staff able to offer far more than what is on the fairly extensive menu. Just don't get there too late if you want to avoid queuing for more than half an hour. Also free to get into in the daytime when you it operates as a bar/restaurant For more info check out: http://www.opallounge.co.uk/
Not sure but I think trainers and ripped jeans would be a bad idea. Leave a Comment Theme: NightclubAddress: 51 george streetDirections: West end of George street (parallel with Princes Street)

This has been around for years but still draws a crowd - especially at weekends. The underground bar and small dancefloor has seen better times but after a few drinks no-one seems to care. The music - a mix of funk, chart and 80s/90s favourites keeps things friendly and sweaty til 3am when it closes. For more go to: http://www.ponana.co.uk/main.php?intro=no

Smart venue that is part of Rick's hotel, has a comprehensive cocktail list and the food is always well presented.

This has been extended sideways recently but still has a bar area towards the front with a popular large restaurant further back. Bar staff are always friendly and the place attracts a slightly older crowd.

The Queens Arms is a good place to dive into whilst shopping to re-charge the batteries. Open fires, big central bar with plenty of drinks to choose from. Used to watch football in here when caught uptown.

This lies below the Living Room and is a great venue. Plenty seating, a good atmosphere and always full of sweeties.

This is the place I like to hang out and read a paper, grab a snack and generally chill out on a lazy afternoon. However it's a vibrant hangout when the office drones start appearing come evening when it really livens up.
