 | Edinburgh Miscellaneous/Unnamed Reviews | 1 - 10 of 12 | | The Playfair project at the National Gallery is a huge success and has fitted a good restaurant in the lower level offering views onto Princess St gardens. The food is excellent and very well presented in a chic enviroment. Also has an extensive wine list with well qualified sommeliers. There is also a coffee shop in the foyer that serves up some excellent pastries.

Of Edinburgh's many restaurants, I recommend Fishers - a seafood restaurant in Leith who also have a newer branch in the New Town. Other good places to try include The Tower, which is located above the new Museum of Scotland and offers stunning views of Edinburgh Castle and the Old Town. The Atrium in the Foyer of the Traverse Theatre is another good place for lunch or dinner, while the bistro Blue upstairs is equally good and open late. Although slightly out of the way, an excellent place for lunch is Valvona and Crolla on Elm Row - a great little cafe at the back of Edinburgh's finest deli. A good place for a coffee is Cafe Florentin, which is just off the Royal Mile in the Old Town (near the Cathedral).

I ate at the most amazing Sudanese restaurant on my last night there. I had no idea that food from that region also includes falafel and humus and incredible arrangements of food. It was close to Nathan Square. A very bad sushi place (and probably the only one there) is on Rose street, called Yo Sushi! It's a really cute gimmick with revolving trays circulating around you, but the food was far from real sushi. I met a nice girl there from NYU though and showed her around the town on my last night. It was nice to have a new friend. Leave a Comment Theme: Other

If you have been to my pages, I dont do alot of food or restaraunt endorsements. Hey I eat waaay too well, not to worry;-) But its no secret, the food in the UK is about as unimaginative as anywhere in the world.I know, I lived there. But there are a few things in Scotland that stood out, modest though they were. Walkers Shortbreads are about as rich and wonderfull as any cookie Ive ever had and unlike the stuff we see in gourmet stores in the States they were downright cheap ..hey, no mystery, theyre made here. Also worth mentioning is NAIRN's Oatcakes, kinda like a cracker only a great vehicle to spread strawberry jam on and twice as good with tea! With all due respect, keep the haggis (I did TRY it) and give me Walkers and Nairns. Ill have a complete section on Scottish Whiskey next..lol. Leave a Comment Theme: Other

Being a cosmopolitan city, one can find many different types of cuisine here. One of my favourite is a Szechaun restaurant just 15 mins from the city centre. It serves excellent szechaun soup! Just the right amount of spice and sourness! Friendly waitresses and reasonable prices.

You should try the Indian food...there are a lot of places with indian food to take away. There are a lot of coffe shoops with special cakes...try the 'strawberry cheese cake' in Oliver's, in Princess street. It is the best cake you will ever eat. Theme: Other

You can eat well in Edimburgh at almost any price. There are places specialize in traditional Scottish cooking, using fresh local produce... Leave a Comment Theme: Other
