The Edinburgh bus service is pretty comprehensive and fairly cheap. You won't really need it for getting around the city centre, it's compact enough to walk around comfortably, even on a cold, wet December day. But if you're staying just outside the city it's a godsend. We stayed in Leith and it was cheaper to bus into the city centre than to drive and park - and quicker too.

Take the airport bus to the center of Edinburgh. The last stop is at Waverly bridge. Airport busses travel frequently, around 10 min waiting time. A open return ticket costs only £5 , single trip £3,30 against about £14 for a taxi (one way). Leave a Comment Theme: Other

Edinburgh Airport : The airport is at Turnhouse, approximately 6 miles (10 kms) west of the city centre. By Bus : There is a frequent bus service from the terminal forecourt to Haymarket Station and the city centre terminus at Waverley Station. By car : You will find Edinburgh at the hub of the Scottish motorway network. By rail : The East Coast line is the quickest inter-city railway in Britain. The route links Waverley station at Edinburgh with London and Europe. Edinburgh Touristcard : is available from Lothian Regional Transport and is valid for the Edinburgh Classic sightseeing Tour and on any other day-time bus services. It also offers discounts at restaurants and places of interest on the tourist route. . Leave a Comment Theme: Other

I don't think these buses are worth it. Edinburghs sights are centrally located and easy to walk around. The bus would only be a good idea if you are really tired or it is raining hard. Leave a Comment Theme: Bus

Unless you're living outside town I don't suggest bringing a car into Edinburgh. The various one-way systems in the city centre can be very confusing. The best way to get about is by bus. Leave a Comment Theme: Bus

Lothian Bus (the Airlink is bus number 100) runs between the airport and Waverly Bridge Station every 10 minutes. Fare:£3.30 one-way, £5.00 open return. It takes approx. 25 minutes. In the city centre you can do everything on foot (don't underestimate the hills!), but there are good and regular bus services too. Leave a Comment Theme: Airplane
