 | Glasgow Further Afield Reviews | 1 - 10 of 21 | | It is said to be the prettiest loch, sorry lake, in Scotland though I'd say Loch Awe is as its name says, awesome! Unfortunately I didn't have my camera with me at that time, but anyway Loch Lomond is more famous being the spot for inspirations of writers and poets alike. The most scenic areas are the north or south end. I went to Balloch and it's very close to Glasgow. More can be seen on foot than on board the ferry. Just a matter of whether you can be bothered ;) Leave a Comment Address: BallochDirections: Take a train from Glasgow, I think it was from Queen St station (not Central Stn).

Inverary castle, about 40 miles from Glasgow. The park is free of charge, the castle is partly still inhabited, the other part may be visited against a small fee. Also have a look for the great belltower in Inverary ( 300 meters from the castle ), the jail, that is a museum now and the great port-area with a celtic cross. Culzean Castle overlooks the Firth of Clyde, just outside the town of Maybole. Besides the interesting castle (where Eisenhower used to relax during WWII), there are also beautiful gardens and lovely paths to wander on. The following photos were taken at Stirling Castle, north of Glasgow. The Castle is in the care of Historic Scotland and is open to the public all year round and seven days a week. It's a fine example of the many historic castles to be found all over Scotland. Just think Braveheart and Mary, Queen of Scots! Leave a Comment

If you make it to St. Andrews you should see the grounds of a now defunct cathedral. Old Tom Morris's grave is located here! You can't see it anywhere else! Leave a Comment

1784 this village was build so that workers who worked in the cotton mill of Lanark could live here. The place was build after plans of socialist Robert Owen. His utopia was to increase productivity through building a new society. Leave a Comment Address: 20 kms south of Glasgow (approx.?)Other Contact: Guided tours in a lot of differe

Scotland's biggest loch .. and a really gorgeous one as well! Leave a Comment Directions: Not far from Glasgow. The picture was taken at 'Duck bay'. Looks more like 'Bird bay' ;-)

The best thing about the Isle of Harris was the Sound of Taransay, where the sea was crystal clear, with a tropical turqoise hue to it. The sand is almost white. The views are magnificent. My friend watched the buzzards while I braved the cold atlantic. Leave a Comment
