 | Glasgow Gallery of Modern Art Reviews | 1 - 10 of 22 | | The GALLERY OF MODERN ART is located next to George Square. Is another very good museum to visit in the city, even though i don't like very much the modern art,i enjoyed my visit to this museum. During my visit to the city it was holding on this museum a vey interesting exposition by Barbara Kruger. There is also another nice place to see on that area it is called : THE LIGHTHOUSE, is another new museum in the city,it is The Scotland's Centre for Architecture, and Design, sometimes there are some very good expositions here. The Ligthouse is located just next to the Central Station.Don't miss it!. Leave a Comment

Thought provoking. Good to look at from the outside, as well as inside. An inspiring place to be. Opened in 1996, and second only to London, the Gallery mixes modern with neo-classical architecture. Famous for the statue of The Duke of Wellington outside, forever wearing an orange traffic cone (see my other picture for a good close up!) and sometimes other decoration, the site is a must see, for all its social commentary, the traffic cone, the buildings, the exhibits and the people. Rooftop cafe. Also has a cafe with internet access and library, in the basement. Leave a Comment

This is the Duke of Wellington, astride his horse in front of the gallery of modern art. Seems appropriate that he wears the traffic cone so often seen on statues throughout the land :-) Look out for statues all over Glasgow, often little valued by locals and overlooked - but they are wonderful and contribute greatly to the sense of grandeur and pride of this historic city. Remember "The Empire" and the Industrial Revolution. Glasgow was there at the heart, and these statues remind us. Leave a Comment Directions: George Square, south side.

The Gallery of Modern Art is located in the middle of Royal Exchange Square .It offers you an up-to-date vision within its four floors of gallery space. Showcasing the works of living artists, the gallery has an eye on the future, with interactive computers and art workshops. Leave a Comment

One thing that you really must do when you are in Glasgow is to keep an eye out for the statues, most famously the one in front of the modern art museum in royal exchange square...Glasgow wouldn't be the same without the coneheads!! P.S. 3 years ago at New Year, I was pulled off the statue at the modern art musuem by the police...along with about 30 other people, who would have guessed you could fit that many up there?? I sure didn't!! Leave a Comment

Terrific new works and brimming with talent, some challenging installations. Like the wooden church interior, within a film of a naked man singing "Jerusalem", with the words REAL LIFE tatooed across his back.. Very Strange. Wonder if it sounds better after 15 pints of McEwans?. Or may be, by then, you are just raring to join in and sing along. Leave a Comment

Firstly the building dates back to 1776 when it was built as a mansion, and several remains of the original building still exist within the gallery. Secondly the gallery houses work by artists who are alive and many of the exibits have quotations from these artists which gives understanding to their work

To the artsy folks out there, don't forget to pay a visit to the cool Glasgow Musuem of Modern Art. Yes, more later....

The gallery of Modern Art is a great place to spend an afternoon. There's plenty of weird and wonderful stuff in here. Well the gallery itself is nice, but my favourite thing about the GoMA is the statue outside - complete with the traffic cone on its head! It's become such a landmark that the cone is never removed by police, or at least if it is, it certainly gets back up there fast enough!! I once saw it with 2 cones - one for the horse too!
