 | Glasgow Kelvingrove Reviews | 1 - 10 of 30 | | The KELVINGROVE ART GALLERY AND MUSEUM,is the best and largest museum in Glasgow,or even in the whole United Kingdom and one of best of Europe aswell.Unfortunatelly i didn't see the inside of this nice museum because it is closed for a very big restoration, will be closed for three years and will be open again un summer of 2.006. The most important collection on this museum, was originary all paintings left to the city by Archibald McLellan. There are also other diferents galleries as:Arms and Armour,Archealogy,Natural History,Art,Sculpture and a few more. Apart of the museum, the building is also beautiful and is one of favorite buildings for Glasgwegians, really it looks like an european palace and it worth a visit. Next to the main building ,don't miss a visit to Kelvingrove Park, there is also a very big area for children's playground. This is a picture of Kelvingrove Museum. I'm sorry, but Kelvingrove is Closed for a few years - they are spending milliions of pounds on it, with a total refurbishment - but for now, alas, it is closed. However, if you are in Glasgow, I would still very much recommend you walk out this way, through the Kelvingrove Gardens, then turn right (north) over the bridge and pass the University with its amazingly beautiful stone architecture (like Edinburgh Old Town), and then over to the West End and the Botanical Gardens. Beautiful. Leave a Comment Directions: West End

Re-opened in July 2006, the restoration has turned this museum into a wonderful display of interesting exhibits. A spitfile hangs precariously from the ceiling whilst Sir Roger the elephant stands out as the elephant shot whilst in musth due to lack of understanding of this male phenomenon in elephants. Wonderful place for educating children and easily accessible too, by hoping on the sight seeing open top bus. Wheelchair friendly. Leave a Comment

When you are in Glasgow, you really must visit all of the museums. There are so many different types such as the Transport Museum, the Kelvingrove Art Museum, the Modern Art Museum, the Burrell collection, and many many more. There is something for everyone whether you are into Art, History or just really unusual stuff..there is something in Glasgow for you! My personal favourite has to be the Transport museum, as it is free to get into, and is a whole lot of fun. I could spend a whole day in there - in fact, I think I have!! Leave a Comment

Glasgow has some of the best art collections in the UK. From the Kelvingrove Art Museum shown here, it's an easy walk up the hill to the University. The Hunterian Galleries are found there. Leave a Comment

It is just a really interesting place to visit (I go frequently). There are natural history exhibits, geology, military history all well presented. And art, glass, ceramics and sculptures from around the world including many Scottish artists. Directions: Dumbarton Road, Kelvingrove, G3 8AG, 0141 287 2699.

Kelvingrove Art Gallery holds one of the UK’s finest art. Originally intended to be a concert hall and an art school, it was opened in 1902 without features for either. The collected works are separated into Natural History and Zoology, European Arms and Armour, Archaeology and Decorative Art. Leave a Comment Address: Argyle Street, GlasgowDirections: Located in Kelvin Park in the popular West End of the city.

Visit the Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum. It's a lovely building, with lots of interesting stuff inside. There's also a cafe (very nice), a shop and 'Kidspace' where you can leave kids to play around - which is actually pretty good, not just a soft play area, but actually has interesting ideas for children to try out. The story goes that when this building was built, al those years ago (ok, so I'm not actually sure when!), they accidentally built it back-to-front! The architect was said to be so devastated about it that he committed suicide....... For every person who tells you this story is true, there'll be another one who says it's a load of rubbish, but I always wonder when I'm walking past. See what you think....... Leave a Comment Directions: Just opposite the Kelvin Hall, on Dumbarton Road, just as it forks into Argyle Street and Sauchiehall Street.
