There are two airports in or near Glasgow. The first is 30 miles to the south west in Prestwick (see my Prestwick pages), Glasgow Prestwick Airport, and there is a train that runs each half hour from the airport to the centre of Glasgow that takes about 50 minutes journey time. If you arrive by Ryanair this is the airport you will fly into.
The main Glasgow Airport is to the West of the city. It is possible to get flights to pretty much anywhere from here. If you are travelling with Easyjet you will fly into this airport.

Hey, it's pretty easy to get to Glasgow, so no worries....
You can choose to fly straight into Glasgow International Airport (like what I did) OR travel from another part of the United Kingdom i.e. by rail or car.

To get to Glasgow, the best way would depend on where you are travelling from. Glasgow International is the biggest airport with flights coming in from around the world. Central Station is the largest train station in Glasgow with national trains running from numerous platforms. Also, Buchanan bus station which is slap bang in the centre of town, also runs services nationwide. Leave a Comment Theme: Other

Fly! the airport is only 10 min by car, there are plenty of taxis outside, and a bus service runs you to city centre there is also a good train network and buses from all over the UK
Buses there are hundreds of them going to all parts of the city. (try www.firstglasgow.com for info) they have recently introduced a FIRST DAY ticket for ?2.20 which you can use on all their buses all day.
There is also a limited underground (subway) system which is cheaper and faster but as i said limited. There is a travel centre in St. Enochs Square where you can get timetables for all services.
A car is only a good idea if you plan to use Glasgow as a base, as the city (like most) is busy with traffic (remember we drive on the left:) and there is a confusing one way system which has recently changed and even i dont know where i'm going lol. Theme: Airplane

Glasgow's International Airport : is the busiest of Scotland's airport. It lies eight miles to the west of Glasgow city and is within easy reach of the rest of Scotland. Glasgow Prestwick Airport is about 44 miles south of Glasgow in Ayrshire and serves Ryanair and other budget airlines to and from Europe.
Taxi's: are available at the airport 24hrs. Taxi's must pick up from designated taxi ranks.
By coach: Citylink services operate to Glasgow

Glasgow has 2 airports - Glasgow International and Glasgow Preswick. Prestwick is probably easier to get into the city centre from, as there's a train station right there that takes you directly to Glasgow Central. And apparently (so I've been told...) if you show the ticket collecter on the train to/from the airport your flight ticket, you don't have to buy a separate ticket for the train. Either that or the ticket is cheaper...
If you're getting the train, you'll either get in to Glasgow Central or Glasgow Queen Street, depending on where you've travelled from. There are taxi ranks outside both, and low level trains at both stations take you to other parts of the city. Also, Buchanan Street Underground is opposite Queen Street Station, if you want to go somewhere near an underground stop.
And for travelling to Glasgow by coach, Buchanan Bus Station is not far from Queen Street station either. But it's not immediately obvious, so you're probably best to get someone to direct you once you get there - plenty of people ask me when I'm in town.
Glasgow is a really easy city to get around. The trains are the best mode of transport, and they're reasonably priced. The underground is also good - very easy to use, and impossible to get lost on, as it runs in a circle! People will tell you that the locals call it the Clockwork Orange (because the trains are mainly orange), but this is a lie - I've never heard it called that in my life, and neither have my friends or family. So if you call it that, you will stand out as a tourist a mile off. You have been warned!!
Buses in Glasgow run to most places, but they're not always as reliable as you might like.... However there are some places that you just can't get to any other way. Leave a Comment Theme: Other

Take a flight there from London. Lotsa cheap air tickets around. Most of the time you will be able to get a flight ticket for below 50 pounds. Train takes almost 8hrs and cost more than flight, unless you cannot get tickets on 'no-frills' airlines.

From abroad, fly. Glasgow airport is 10mins from the city center by bus or taxi and they are both available at the airport. The bus is gbp3.30 and the taxi will be about gbp10-15. There are national express coaches to Buchanan Street bus station and trains from all over the UK to Queen Street or Central Station. Prestwick Airport is about 45mins from Glasgow but there is a cheap connecting bus and train service.
Go to St Enoch Square travel centre and pick up some bus timetables. There are hundreds of buses to anywhere. Get a first day ticket for gbp1.95 and use this ticket all day on different buses. Have the correct money for the bus coz you don't get any change. The trains are frequent too and there is alway the wee underground system that doesnt go to many places but try it for a laugh anyway!!! Leave a Comment Theme: Train

Glasgow has 2 airports - neither of which are in Glasgow believe it or not. The first called Glasgow Airport is in Renfrew/Paisley and takes the most amounts of flights - BA, KLM etc etc etc. The other is called Prestwick - I refuse to call it Glasgow Prestwick as to me it has always been and always will be just Prestwick. Anyway - Prestwick is down the Ayrshire coast and generally takes flights from RyanAir. Theme: Other

I arrived in Scotland Via Ryanair a no frills plane sevice aimed at low fares.
I booked the seats straight off the net on Ryanair.
seats are basically first the plane first to sit type basis.
the airline also flys to lesser airports which help to keep prices down.
from Dublin ryanair flies to glascow prestwick.
You need to take a forty min train ride to get to Glascow or a hour 120 min bus trip
seems alot but when you can get air tickets at 60 irish dollars return its not bad.
