The Bazaar in Shiraz is an astonishing place with tons of amazing staff. There are intricate backgammon sets, beautifull ceramics and of course amazing carpets. A word of warning: if you are visiting Esfahan the Bazaar there is bigger, better and you can probably get lower prices.
-Have an idea of how much things should cost (easier said than done...) -Negotiate. -Never, never buy immediatedly from the first shop you see something you like. Look around and you can always come back.
Bought something that you found elsewhere for a lower price? Never mind, if it was worth it to you in the first place it is still worth it even now! Leave a Comment

Haha sounds funny but yes in the city most all personal run shops close down from noon to 5pm... at that time shop owners go home relax and eat, before working into the night.
Wait til after 5 or go before 12 Leave a Comment

Persepolis - perhaps the most famous tourist destination in Iran. I was surprised to find that it was not in the desert! All the photos I had seen previously made me think it was surrounded by sand - not so! Still, very impressive ruins. Unfortunately, it seems to be somewhat run-down. I hope that rumours of sizeable pieces of stonework being sold overseas illegally are not true. Some of the graffiti carved into the stonework is itself historic - dating back to the 1800's!
