La Cabane: Best restaurant on the slopes
  • Tip Rating:
  • Satisfaction:
  • La Cabane, situated at an altitude of 1,960 m right at the bottom station of the Cabane chair lift in the Warde domain, is the best place to get Lebanese food. Besides, it has a beautiful sunny terrace. If it is busy, they open the terrace on the first floor. The terraces are served, but it is also possible to get food at a counter. There are decent toilet facilities where toilet paper is always available (which is not standard in some other places, so always bring your own!).

If there are Lebanese driving around on snowmobiles (usually Satuerday / Sunday), don't sit on the left side of the terrace (seen from the piste), as the smell of gasoline is terrible.

Any of the mezzeh (the quivalent to the Spanish tapas) is good to excellent. Prices for a drink and two mezzeh are about 7 or 8 US $ per person. You're supposed to share your mezzeh, so if you're with 2 or more people (and do not order the same) you have an excellent choise and there is always something that you like.

Restaurant at top of Jabal Dib: Snackbar without atmosphere

The self-service restaurant at the top of Jabal Dib offers fries, hamburgers and some sandwiches with local meat. Mezzeh (the Lebanese version of the Spanish tapas) are not offered. The quality of the food is not bad, but there is little choise.

The restaurant lacks the atmosphere that you find at La Cabane (see other tip). Many non-skiers visit the place as the Jabal Dib chair lift is the only ski lift open to non-skiers.

A positive thing is the view, which is very good as the restaurant has big windows all around. Besides, the restaurant has a nice terrace, although it was never really busy.

A clearly negative thing is that the "biological" toilet facilities next to the restaurant are usually only open on Saturday and Sunday. If they're closed, there is no alternative than to ski down to the facilities at the parking place of the Junction Domain. Or, alternatively, find your own "biological" toilet; which is not easy, as there are no trees or rocks to hide behind. As both the toilets ate the top and the bottom don't offer toilet paper, be prepared and bring your own!

I recommend the sandwiches with local meat.
