When you travel through Garibaldi Provincial Park you will see lots of beautiful wildflowers that bloom in the subalpine meadows. Do not pick or damage the flowers, grasses or other plants...no matter how much you may be tempted. These parks are protected areas so it would be nice if you also could help protecting this fragile environment.

Camping by a lake...pack out
what you pack in!

At the campsites and shelters/cabins in the park are no garbage facilities so always pack out what you pack in! Store all food on the hangers provided. And please, leave facilities as you found them or cleaner .

This way it'll be a pleasure for everyone who comes to visit these places. As we don't want to have these places shut down because some people are so careless. So, don't leave your garbage around and leave the please the way you found it!

When you visit this wonderful park you will see that all the trails are fairly well maintained. Always stay on the designated trails because there are alpine meadows and other plants that are very fragile.

Pick up a map with all the hiking trails so you can easily follow them. Most trails have colored flags and sign posts along the way so you know that you are still on the right track.

Garibaldi Park

Wildlife in this park is just as varied as its plantlife. Although the larger mammals are not in big numbers for the size of the park. Deer, mountain goat, grizzly bear and black bear are present, but not very often seen, but the chance exists.

Smaller mammals such as marmots, squirrels and chipmunks are far more common. The Canadian jay is seen almost everywhere throughout the park and won't say no to your food!

But please don't feed them!!! Even if you can get them closer to you to sit on your hand because you want to feed them. It'll disturb its natural habitat.

A nosy little chipmunk looking
for a snack

When you are hiking through Garibaldi Provincial Park and you take a rest somewhere make sure you keep your backpacks closed. There are some of these little chipmunks that love to get in there and find some food!

They are so cute, but all they want is your food...just thought it was good to mention. These little ones know that tourists will feed them, but you better not. Leave all the wildlife be in harmony and search for their own food.

that are open

Make sure to check at the trailhead or entrance of the park which trail and camping grounds are open and which ones are not.

Sometimes certain trails might be closed due to dangers. And also some campingsites might not be accessible, it's a good thing to know before you start your hike or camping trip
