Ok, let's start with the easiest hikes first. This on is more a pleasant walk as there is minimal elevation gain. You can find the trailhead about 48km (30 miles) North of Squamish and 2.5 km (1.5 miles) South of the Whistler Function Junction. There is a logging road on the left-hand side that leads to the trailhead on the left-hand side. It is 8.5 km (approx. 5 miles) from the highway to the parking lot.

The trail is about 3 km (1.8 miles) and it takes about 45 minutes to 1 hour one way. This is a very pleasant and easy trail that winds through old growth timber. Definitely a great way to get familiar with this beautiful Provincial Park

Yep, we're getting closer to the lake and have our first glimpse upon the lake! Absolutely stunning...the color is so blue. It's it so nice how the lake slowly reveals itself after walking through old growth and lush forests.

The trailhead is located 37km (23 miles) north of Squamish, BC, Canada (along the Sea to Sky Highway). Look out for the "Black Tusk" sign and turn right onto a 2.4km side road that ends at the Rubble Creek parking lot. A round trip for this hike is about 18-19km (11-12 miles) and should take you about 6-7 hours to complete. There is elevation gain of 920m (3020ft).

The trail begins fairly steep and at about 6km there is a junction where you either go straight to go to Garibaldi Lake or you take an extra side trip through the Taylor Meadows where you can find a shelter and campground. This trail will also lead to Garibaldi Lake, it's just a little ways further.

The hike starts with a good climb for a couple of hours. The first while you will walk along Rubble Creek. The creek is quite refreshing and energizing to walk along!

The first part doesn't go very fast. It'll take about 2 hours before of hiking through the forest before you will see anything other than trees. But then it gets more and more interesting!

This trailhead can be found about 4km (0.6 miles) north of Squamish. You turn right off Higway 99 onto Mamquam Road and then onto a logging road past Mashiter Creek bridge.

The hike is about 11km (6.8 miles) and takes anywhere from 3 to 5 hours to hike one way. There is an elevation change of about 600m (1800ft) . This trail follows Paul Ridge and provides beautiful views along the way. Once you get to the Elfin Lake you can see the different icefields (Gorgoyles, Opal Cone and Mamquan Icefields).

Wow, it was well worth the steep hike once you get this view in your sight! This is Wedgemount Lake, a beautiful glacier fed lake. There is a campground for who would like to stay overnight by this lake and there is a little cabin...you can see it sticking out on the picture. It's to the left and has a silver roof, it's fairly small. This lake is located at an elevation of around1600 - 2000m (4800ft - 6000ft).

Here were are at the Elfin Lakes. These lakes are pretty. There is a campground where you can stay, campground costs about $5 CAD. There is also a cabin available for $10 CAD. This cabin offers about 34 bunk beds, a kitchen and eating area. Great for a group of hikers or just if you like to stay inside a cabin instead of a tent.

When you are climbing higher and higher during the hike along Wedgemount Lake trail you will get a little bit of a view over some falls. These are falls created by Wedgemount Creek that tumbles down about 300m (900ft).

Definitely worth to stop for a moment enjoy the sound of the rushing water and of course the view you get.

From Garibaldi Lake to Panorama Ridge

    Sunset the night before the
    hike to Panorama Ridge

When you plan on hiking in Garibaldi Provincial Park and you hike to Garibaldi Lake, you should not miss the hike to Panorama Ridge. You might be able to do the Garibaldi Lake hike and the Panorama Ridge hike in one day...but it'll be a long day. My suggestion is that you hike from to Garibalbid Lake, bring all your gear and camp at this lake. It's a great experience with the most stunning views.

The next morning you can take your time and start your hike to panorama Ridge and once you are done with that you can stay another night at Garibaldi Lake or just make the hike back to the Parking Lot.

The hike from Rubble Creek parking lot to Garibaldi Lake is about 9km (5.5 mi) one way and takes about 3 to 4 hours. Then from Garibaldi Lake to Panorama Ridge it's about 5km (3 mi) one way and takes about 2 hours.

Here we are...right at beautiful Cheakamus Lake. The color is so nice and the surrounding mountains are beautiful. This lake is glacier fed and lies at an elevation of less than 915 m (2745 ft) surrounded by mountains that tower to 1,600 m (4800 ft).

Garibaldi Provincial Park is also great in the winter...lots of backcountry skiing, snowshoeing, snowboarding can be done here. One favorite is a snowshoe trip to Elfin Shelter/Cabin at Elfin Lakes.

It's an 11km (7 mi) trek starting at a 900m (3000 ft) level to a level of 1485 m (4900 ft) at Elfin Lakes. Allow yourself about 3 to 5 hours to make the trip one way. If you're just here for a day trip, the day shelter at Red Heather Meadow, a 3km (2 mi) climb, may be as far as you wish to go, whereas continuing up the trail to the Elfin Lakes is more appropriate for an overnight excursion.
