 | Garibaldi Provincial Park Warnings or Dangers | Tips 1 - 8 of 8 | | Popular Warnings or Dangers | Other Warnings or Dangers Tips | All Tips (8) Even though bears are not that often seen in Garibaldi Provincial Park, they do live in this park. If you spot a bear, keep a safe distance and slowly move away from it. Don't disturb it in its natural habitat and its not likely going to disturb you. Just be aware that you might come across bears when you are hiking. We saw a bear along the trail, thankfully it was far away enough. We did want a picture of it though, so we zoomed in a little to get a better look at the bear. But we nicely stayed on the trail and kept on going. We never disturbed the bear and the bear just kept on doing his thing. Leave a Comment

When you go for longer hikes deeper in the park and higher up in the mountains be aware of the sudden weather changes. You might start off with a sunny morning without a cloud in the sky, but by the afternoon it might be getting darker and more cloudy. The weather can change with a couple of hours. Just make sure you are aware of sudden weather changes and that you are prepared for that! Leave a Comment

You should definitely get a decent pair of sunglasses. Especially in the winter as the sun really reflects on the snow...so be prepared. Your sunglasses are also good for when you want to witness these beautiful sunsets in the winter. In the summer you want to protect your eyes from the sun too, so always have some sunglasses with you. There are some patches of ice and snow to find, so the sun can really reflect on that. There is water available from the lakes and streams. But it's highly recommended that you boil, filter (or otherwise treated) your drinking water before consumption. You can boil your water in the shelters. If you want to wash your dishes and conduct personal hygiene then do that at 30m (90ft) from the water source. All the water should be disposed in the shelter sink or in the campground pit toilets. Leave a Comment

When you plan a hiking trip through this park, whether it's just a day trip or a multi day trip always remember that most of these lakes are glacier fed...which means the water is COLD! Some of the lakes might be ok for a swim, just don't jump into the water without checking how cold it is first! Leave a Comment

Do not underestimate the demands of the backcountry. You might just be going for a daytrip in this park, but still make sure you have enough water and food with you (even if you only plan to stay a few hours)! The weather in the mountainous park can change very quickly and it's good to be prepared if you need to stay in the park longer than you thought. Dress yourself in layers so you can take off or add on clothes. Make sure you are in fairly good shape and bring enough equipement to cover your whole trip...always take some extra! Leave a Comment
