Golden Ears Provincial Park Things To Do

When you are at the Gold Creek Day Use Area and park you car there. Just cross the road and walk along Gold Creek. There is a nice trail that goes along Gold Creek and takes you right to the North Beach of Alouette Lake.

The views of the Creek are beautiful. Make sure to look back once in awhile for some stunning scenery...and definitely have a look at the green water of this creek!

In Golden Ears Provincial Park you can follow the road to the campgrounds, but keep on going straight onto the gravel road to the Gold Creek parking lot just passed the little bridge.

From here you can walk along Gold Creek to the North Beach area of Alouette Lake. The views from here are really great!! You'll have views over the lake and the surrounding mountains. Definitely worth to visit this beach.

On this picture we get another chance to get close to the edge of Gold Creek to see how far we are on our walk. We are pretty close to the North Beach of Alouette Lake. As you can see in this picture, the river has become calm and is flowing into Alouette Lake.

When visiting Golden Ears Provincial Park you should definitely take some time at Aloutte Lake. You can sit on the beach, enjoy a picnic at the tables, swim in this lake, go for a canoe trip or just walk on the beach and relax. It's a real nice lake with wonderful views. It's a big attraction for locals in the summer. So, you are warned that it can be very busy here in the summer.

We usually visit this place in the spring or fall and sometimes even in winter. You have the whole lake to yourself and the views are absolutely gorgeous, especially after some snowfall. There are many trail heads for hiking. You can find a folder at the entrance of the park.

Gold Creek is found on the other end of Alouette Lake at the North Beach. This is a great creek that ends up in Alouette Lake. You can walk along the creek and you will see how green this creek is where the water is more stagnant...absolutely stunning! And the views are very beautiful too!!!

I'd say that this walk is about 30-45 minutes one way and leads to the North Beach where you can walk around and relax.

Make sure to pick up a folder with the hiking trails and maps at the entrance of the park. From Alouette Lake you follow the road to the Gold Creek Parking. You pass the campgrounds and then you have to follow a gravel road for a few km and over a little bridge to end up at this parking lot.

Directions: Follow the road to the West Canyon Day Use Area, pass this place and go on to a gravel road to the Gold Creek Parking lot.

On the way to Golden Ears

Once you are in the vicinity of Golden Ears Provincial Park you'll turn onto a road that leads you through the thick forests. This road is about 12km/7.5 miles before you get to the entrance of the park. It's a nice drive and it makes you feel like you are in the middle of nowhere.

After your 12km/7.5 mile drive on the road to Golden Ears Provincial Park you'll see the entrance of the park. There is a statue of a mountain goat with the name of the park on it.

Just a bit after this sign there is some sort of a spot where you can stop to look at the map of the park. Here you can also pick up a map of the park with all the trails on it.

This hike leaves from the Gold Creek Parking lot, the one where you can go to the North Beach of Alouette Lake. This is a lovely hike of about an hour and takes you along Gold Creek until you get to these beautiful 10m/30ft high falls.

This is a view over Gold Creek when we are approaching the North Beach of Alouette Creek. Here we found a little path that brought us to the edge of the creek. We were looking back from where we came from and had this beautiful view.

When you are in Golden Ears Provincial Park, pass Alouette Lake and drive to the West Canyon Parking Lot. From there the Viewpoint Trail starts and takes about 45 min. There are nice views over the mountains and when you go in the wetter season you'll find a lovely fall along your way.
