 | New Westminster Flights and Airline Tips | 1 - 10 of 10 | | New West is easily accessable from downtown Vancouver, Burnaby and Surrey. You can get there by taking the skytrain eastbound and getting off at the New Westminster or Columbia skytrain stations. It takes approximately 20 minutes to go to New Westminster from downtown Vancouver by skytrain. The skytrain is a light rail transit system (ie: monorail) - owned and run by Translink. I believe $2.50 buys you a pass onto the skytrain which also allows you access onto the bus anywhere in Greater Vancouver. More information, including the skytrain map, is available on the Translink website. Leave a Comment

New Westminster At Columbia and 8th Street in New Westminster. Opposite the New Westminster Quay. Columbia Station On Columbia at 4th Street in New Westminster. Queen's Park Arena building was officially opened on September 19, 1930. It's has numerous claims to fame. It has been home to the New Westminster Salmonbellies lacrosse teams since that time. 16 Mann Cups have been won by New Westminster teams since the arena was built. Queen's Park Arena has the only wooden floor for lacrosse in the world. Queen's Park Arena is also famous for the New Westminster Bruins and their Memorial Cup winning teams of the late 70s. The arena was known as the "most feared arena in hockey" and some of the games made the movie Slapshot seem tame. Leave a Comment

Queen's Park is located on the site of a converted fairground and is as old as Stanley Park. Although not as large as Stanley Park, it features a number of similar attractions, including the province's first spray park, Rainbow Playland, a petting zoo, sports and picnicking facilities, and beautifully groomed gardens to wander through. Of course Queen's Park Arena is of historical importance as it is the home of the New Westminster Salmonbellies and is the last arena that lacrosse is played on a floor made of wood. On board the M.V. Native Paddlewheeler Riverboat from The New Westminster Quay "Greater Vancouver's other Waterfront". This authentic paddlewheeler is modeled from the ships that used to travel British Columbia some one hundred years before her. The voyage takes you through fascinating scenery and wildlife, historic locales and will dock at Fort Langley, the birthplace of British Columbia. Visit the original Hudson's Bay Company Trading Post and explore the village with its many interesting sites, shops, museums and antique stores that make up Fort Langley's unique character.
