 | Shuswap Lake General Tips | Tips 1 - 2 of 2 | | Popular General Tips | Other General Tips Tips | All Tips (2) I didn't appreciate the sheer beauty of this area until we actually stayed here for more than one day. The shoreline stretches 400km/or 250 miles, and you forget how enormous the lake is until you have to drive around it.
I just love sitting somewhere where there's a view and taking in the shoreline, seeing the boats snake their way through the water, watching the clouds float by, and the birds circle the lake. Very zen. Leave a Comment

August is a beautiful month to be at Shuswap Lake. The daytime temperatures are generally in the mid 20s Celsius, the lake is warm enough for swimming, and by late evening you have the most beautiful colours at sunset. In August, it remains light out well until 9pm, so you can really take advantage of being outdoors. While Shuswap is famous for houseboating, by late evening most houseboats are anchored along the beach. This photo was taken from the beach by the town of Sorrento. We didn't rent a houseboat, we had a cabin on the shore. By evening the area quiets down and it becomes a very peaceful place to be. However, even in the daytime, Shuswap Lake is so large that it never truly feels like it's busy. Leave a Comment
