Canada Place is not only a beautiful structure, resembling a long ship with multi sails, but it houses convention centres, restaurants a world class hotel and hosts many interesting events. This is also the major Cruise ship port, very classy.
The IMAX theatre is housed in this building, and is a very impressive "event", if you've never experienced a night out at the IMAX movies, try it here. Their program changes frequently, so you'll be able to choose something.

If you want to get some close up views of massive cruise ships and you are venturing around downtown, take the time to visit Canada Place.
Canada Place is no doubt one of Vancouver's more unique buildings and brings character to Vancouver's Harbour.

Canada Place is an architectural landmark in Vancouver. The building jets out over the water and its white sails makes it look like a ship in port. Not surpringly, this is the major cruise ship terminal for Alaska-bound cruises. Canada Place is also home to the Pan Pacific Hotel and a huge convention center. It even has an IMAX Theatre hidden at its far end.
Saying all this, there is not a whole lot going on at Canada Place other than the view. People don't go there to do things and Canada Place itself is not really a destination other than for panoramic photo opportunities. It takes about half an hour to casually walk around the perimeter of Canada Place while snapping photos of the harbour, mountains, and seaplanes taking off.
Though it's scenic, I wouldn't call the Canada Place area particularly vibrant. It's actually a rather sterile part of the city as a result of the business-oriented neighbourhood. The only crowds at Canada Place are Alaska cruise passengers and convention participants. Even then, it's only really crowded from May to September.
If you're going to visit, make Canada Place a stop on your way to somewhere else (be it Stanley Park, Gastown, Chinatown, etc). And if you're limited for time in Vancouver, skipping Canada Place isn't a bad thing, especially when equally scenic Stanley Park and Granville Island are much more interesting. Canada Place is a cruise ship terminal adjacent to the Pan Pacific Hotel. If you come here in the summer time, you'll see many different cruise ships docked here.

The large Canada Place promenade is wonderful for a photo opportunity stroll, on your way to cathc and IMAX or IMAX 3D film, which is assured to thrill your senses. Using a 5-storey high sceen and wraparound IMAX Digital Sounds, IMAX and IMAX 3D films put you in the picture like no other motion picture format can.
Spectacular features celebrate such themes as Canadian Wildlife, natural wonders, popular destinations and amzing adventures. Definitely a possibility to do on a rainy day. These films are really great to see and so impressive. The walk around the Canada Place is lovely too...it can get a little windy but the views are very nice! Sydney has the Opera House....and Vancouer has the sails of Canada Place. This building is becoming a recognizable icon of Vancouver. Canada Place is located on the waterfront and is a port of call for cruise ships from around the world. The complex also houses an Imax theatre, Convention centers and a World Trade Center. Canada Place is a great way for a newcomer to immediately grasp the flavour of Vancouver, with the busy harbour and cruise ships in the fore and majestic mountains as a backdrop. When I first moved to Vancouver this was a favourite spot. I would grab a coffee from the nearby train station and go as far out to the 'bow' as possible to watch the seaplanes take off and land. Of course Canada Place is also home to offices, the convention centre, and the PanPacific Hotel, which is first class.
