When you are visiting Vancouver Island you will have many opportunities to do some great hiking. From short trails to backpacking for days.
So, check out the Visitor Centres on Vancouver Island in the area you are staying at for detailed information on hiking trails. There are many provincial parks/national Parks and other places where you can go hiking.

Most parks or places where you can hike have maps available at the entrance of the park or on the parking lot!
Some of the best places for hiking in Vancouver Island are: Pacific Rim National Park, Strathcona Provincial Park, Little Qualicum Falls Provincial Park, MacMillan Provincial, Cape Scott Provincial Park and many more.

On Vancouver Island you will have many opportunities to go kayaking/canoeing. You can choose from seakayaking, river kayaking and of course lake kayaking. Most populair over here is the sea kayaking as there are so many opportunities for it. There are many different places that you can choose from. Some of the best and most popular places are: Broken Group Islands in Pacific Rim National Park, Johnston Strait, Tofino and many more places.

Most of the equipment you can rent at the place you want to kayak or canoe. There are many guided trips which are also recommended, especially when you have no experience.

    Bungy Jump Vancouver Island!
Bungy Jump from 143 feet off the river in a beautiful rive gorge just outside of Nanaimo. Time it right and you might be able to jump right under a moving train!

No gear needed, in fact on February 14th and 15th you don't even need clothes! For this is when Bungy Zone hosts their "Annual Naked Weekend"

    Scuba Diving
Jacques Cousteau is said to have ranked the waters of the Pacific Northwest among the world's best places to dive, second only to the Red Sea for marine life diversity.

Readers of Scuba Diving magazine recently named British Columbia the Top Overall Dive Destination in North America. It's easy to see why.

Vancouver Island's cold, clean waters offer divers excellent visibility (especially in winter), numerous shipwrecks to explore, and close encounters with big marine life.

    Best places to go:
Nanaimo, Comox Valley/Hornby island, Campbell River area, Barkley Sound, Nootka Sound.
