 | Victoria Inner Harbour Reviews | 1 - 10 of 22 | | The Inner Harbour of Victoria is the heart of this city. Filled with small boats, point of departure for whalewatching trips, surrounded by some nice terraces and quays that seem to be always full of tourists, artists and entertainers. The Inner Harbour is dominated by two large buildings. One are the Parliament buildings, which you can see in the picture of my Victoria intro. The other is the Empress hotel, an Edwardian style hotel that is said to be the most photographed attraction of Vancouver Island. The hotel is world famous for its afternoon tea in the main lobby. (Which we did not experience, but must be quite something. Reservations are required for this) All in all a very nice area, that you surely will not miss when going to Victoria. Leave a Comment

Tourist Shops gallore and just about everythng you could ever want with VICTORIA BC on it but it is still beautiful... Government Street is made up of old old renovated buildings that are mostly coffee shops and tourist shops now. The Causway Takes you around Our Inner Harbour where you can see the Empress Hotel and The lights on the Legislature. Both of these areas are great places to see our many Street Performers. Happy Summers!! Leave a Comment Directions: Downtown Victoria

The Inner Harbour of Victoria is really beautiful. You can stroll around and enjoy the views that you get along the way. The Legislative Building and The Empress Hotel are one of the landmarks you'll see. In the summer there are many street performers, some just to entertain you, some create some wonderful paintings, others are carving little totem poles and so much more. Leave a Comment Directions: From the Swarz Bay Ferry Terminal follow Highway 17 and you will end up in downtown Victoria. Just follow the signs.

The Inner Harbour really is the heart of Victoria. To get around, you can travel by foot (follow the coast line all the way from Clover Point in Beacon Hill Park to the Westsong Walk in Esquimalt) or try one of the miniature harbour ferries that will take you around the Harbour and up the Gorge Waterway. Those miniature ferries perform a choreographed water ballet on Sunday mornings in the summer! Tours are offered by Kabuki Cab (bicycle carriages peddled by strong locals) or in horse-drawn carriages. Around the Inner Harbour there are many attractions: The Royal BC Museum, The Wax Museum, BC Experience, Minature World, the Undersea Gardents, and the Bug Zoo, to name a few. Architectural standouts include the Parliament Buildings and the Empress Hotel. There is great shopping on and around Government Street. If you're hungry, try Rebar in Bastion Square for a sit-down meal, or Sam's Deli for sandwiches and soup. Murchie's is famous for its tea (and deeelicious cakes), while Roger's is famous for chocolate. Leave a Comment

The most familiar image that comes to mind when thinking about Victoria probably is the Legislature buildings overlooking Inner Harbour. The scenery around the harbour is so nice, you won't be able to put your camera back in your bag! Once you're done taking pictures, you can go for a short walk around the harbour which is always filled with tourists, street performers and street artists. Nothing left to do but enjoy the atmosphere of the place! The Victoria visitor information centre is also located right next to Inner Harbour, at 812 Wharf Street (250-953-2033). It's impossible to not go by the inner harbour as it's pretty much the center of Victoria. If you haven't already decided what to do with your time in Victoria, you can start your visit with a stop at the art deco inspired Tourist Information Centre at 812 Wharf Street and from there you'll find many of Victoria's top sights within a short distance as well as the ferry docks for Washington State, the float plane terminals, whale watching cruises, the Royal London Wax Museum and the Pacific Undersea Gardens. During the warmer months (ie: May to September), Victoria's Inner Harbour becomes ground zero for the city's tourism industry. It's here where busloads of tourists wander around the waterfront snapping photos of famous Victoria landmarks like the Empress Hotel and the BC Legislature buildings. There are kiosks selling local artwork, jewellery and food, from beaded necklaces to Greek gyros. Magicians, mimes, and buskers are everywhere - you can't walk further than 20 feet before tripping over another musician's hat full of change. There are monuments, statues and gardens. There's the Tally-Ho horse-drawn carriages and London-like red double decker buses luring the tourists for a scenic tour. There are flower baskets and Union Jack flags interspersed between tourist trappy attactions like the Undersea Gardens and the Wax Museum. This is Victoria's Inner Harbour. Leave a Comment Directions: Located at the southern end of Government Street.

All the major downtown attractions in Victoria are around Inner Harbour. It is the heart of the city. If you see Inner Harbour, you inevitably see all the biggies such as the Empress Hotel, Parliament Buildings, etc. The harbour itself can be bustling and hustling. There are whale-watching boats, Seattle ferries, harbour sightseeing ferries, water taxi, and float planes. At sunset, street entertainers gather here to make a living at the bottom of the steps behind the statue of James Cook, the English Captain who first landed on British Columbia. That's when it all started. Leave a Comment

If you've more time after visiting Butchart Garden, you may like to enjoy the breeze at the INNER HARBOR. Victoria is actually an small island off the coast of Vancouver. The carefree lifestyle of this beautiful island is reflected by the number of boats towed near the harbor! Very refreshing & enjoyable day-outing for those tired of city life... Quiet & nice place to take a weekend break... Leave a Comment

head down and walk along the inner harbour during the summer months. go in either direction, but don't be in a hurry 'cos you won't be going too fast! Street performers spread themselves out all along and a stroll can take a good 30 or 45 minutes if you don't spend too much time watching what's going on. Look out for the spray paint guy; he's been there since before we moved to Victoria in 1990! Leave a Comment
