Once a year, the lovely residents of Moss Street allow The Art Gallery of Greater Victoria to shut down their street. Local artists set up displays along the road, all the way from Fort Street to the ocean (about one or two kilometers), and anyone can come check out the works of these talented individuals. The Art Gallery itself is open as well, with many tents selling food and beverages in their parking lot. Along the way you will see homes that have set up barbeques out front and sell burgers, lots of lemonade stands, buskers (street performers) and businesses who give out free water to the crowds. As well, many of the artists are busy at work during the paint-in, so you have a great chance to see their works-in-progress. The 2007 Moss Street Paint-In will be held on Saturday, July 21st. See the link below for details. Leave a Comment

You can drive up Vancouver Island from Victoria on the highway passing over the Malahat. The Malahat is a small 'mountain' and there is a wonderful viewpoint at the top where you can park and walk around. The views are amazing! Leave a Comment Directions: Head north from Victoria

There are so much to do in Victoria. I would say that if you can get a car and you are tired of seeing the town, jump in and drive away. You will find sceneries to take your breath away, Ocean, Sooke's potholes, Goldstream park, Botanical beach, China beach, Chemainus, Nanaimo. All different places waiting for you! Leave a Comment Address: North of Victoria. Either on Highway #1 or #1a.

A drive along Dallas Rd, following the water and a dive at the brick water! The water is so beautiful, you can walk on the wall, far on the water, its a wall to break the waves, and a lot of divers go diving there. Its really nice, and if you go on an Holiday, the diving club usually has an activity prepared for the divers! and for non divers, there is a nice little restaurant/coffee shop as well there waiting for you. Leave a Comment Directions: Ask for directions, its really not far from downtown and its a wonderful drive

If you're visiting Victoria and my tips haven't been enough help, get thee to Tourism Victoria's Visitor Center. The Visitor Center is located in a beautiful tower (formerly a gas station) right on the Inner Harbour - you can't miss it! Inside, in-the-know local staff will help you find the perfect activity, restaurant, hotel, tour or shop. The lobby is full of brochures for people who just want to help themselves, but you can also queue for individual customer service. Tourism Victoria also operates a hotel reservation hotline and some attraction tickets can be booked in advance on their website. Leave a Comment

If you think you have to visit Buchart Gardens in order to see beautiful gardens in Victoria, you are wrong! Only five minutes from Victoria's Inner Harbour is Goverment House, the home to BC's Lieutenant Governor. This property boasts 36 acres of beautiful gardens! David Lam, the L.G. from 1989-1995 undertook a great project in developing the gardens to their current magnificent state. There are currently about twenty unique gardens, including: - The English Country Garden - The Sunken Rose Garden - The Heather Garden - The Iris Garden - The Woodlands - The Cut Flower Garden With a few exceptions, the grounds are open to the public daily from dawn to dusk. Admission is free. There are different guided tours each month that focus on whichever flowers are currently in bloom, admission for these adult-oriented tours is $10. Leave a Comment

Government House and its grounds cover 36 acres in the prestigious Rocklands area of Victoria, about a five minute drive from the Inner Harbour on Rockland Avenue. There is an impressive mansion on-site, as well as beautiful gardens. The current house is the fourth residence to exist on the site, after it's predecessors were all destroyed by fires. The current house was built in 1959. The third house on the site, which was built in 1903 and burned down in 1957, was designed by two famous Victoria architects- Francis Rattenbury and Samuel McClure (local streets have been named after both of them). For those of you who don't know, the Lieutenant Governor is appointed to represent BC by the Governor General of Canada. Their role is to represent the Queen in activites that honor Canadians, bring Canadians together and promote Canada. While the Prime Minister is the head of Canadian government, we still recognize the Queen as our head of state. Leave a Comment Address: 1401 Rockland AvenueDirections: Two blocks from Fort Street, easily accessible by foot or bus (#11 or #14) from downtown. There is a parking lot on-site, right in front of the mansion (drive through the gates).Website: http://www.ltgov.bc.ca/default.htm
