    The many waterfalls... Rainbow falls, to Akaka falls, and many in between.
    The lush greenery in this area is spectacular. Makes you feel like you have just entered a different world.

    The natural lush green rainforests, and the beauty of the waterfalls, is spectactular.

    Waterfalls: Visit Akaka Falls and Rainbow...

  • Visit Akaka Falls and Rainbow Falls, just north of Hilo town. They're beautiful waterfalls, and easily accessible.

    I don't know if this is a 'fond' memory or not, but I was visiting a friend in Hilo over Christmas one year, and it was raining. Not the drizzle, off and on type of rain I was used to, but a moderate downpour. It kept on raining at that rate all day long. Apparently this is par for Hilo, and they're used to the wetness.
