    These plants are great for firewood but will pack a punch if you fall into it or touch its thonry stems. Be very careful while walking along the trails for these plans as they grow over the path at times. The park rangers often cut away the thorns on the lower lying stems.

    This bay is at times infested with black tip sharks. Traditionally, sharks do not enter shallow waters in direct light. However, do not be suprised to see a tiger shark swimming by while you stand on the docks at Kawaehai Harbor next door. It is advisable not to swim here at all. Many say the sharks do not harm but you never know!
