Popular Restaurants | Other Restaurants Tips | All Tips (2) Really Good Restaurant, just not so good of a hotel. The Mauna Lani Hotel is starting to show it's age, but compared to the much better (accomadation wise Fairmont Orchid), the food at the Bar here is great. You will most likely be the only one there, but Gill the Bartender seems to be able to offer up some good suggestions. Believe it or not, the Bar Food in this place is better than their other Restaurants like the Canoe House, etc. They need to bring the Chef over from there to the other places. They have great Sushi on certain nights, but otherwise, the menu as a whole is good. Don't get freaked out by the lack of clientale in this place, just enjoy some solitude and good food, you won't be dissapointed.
On a side note, the staff at this bar happen to be some of the most pleasant and helpful that I have come accross. You get this at the Fairmont, but they seem a little more Service Trained Responses than what you get at this place. True Vibe is always Cool in Hawaii!
The New York Strip with Mushrooms and Onions. Sounds Basic, but it will beat out all of the other more pricy places and anyone that likes a good steak will be happy. In about 30 or so destinations worldwide that I have visited, this place has to be the worst that I have been to. I have been to the Tommy B in Naples, Sarasota Florida, Scottsdale AZ and have nothing but great experiences! Great Food, Good Atmosphere, So on, but what the Hell happened here? True this place has only been open for about 1 month, but I they have some of the worst service, poor food quality that you will experience while on the Big Island. Stay Clear!
