 | Austin Oasis Reviews | Tips 1 - 10 of 11 | | This restaurant is a bit overpriced but it has an amazing lakeside view so is worth a trip just to take in the sunset and to listen to music. Call to get the music schedule and if you are low on cash, just get a drink and an appetizer. It takes about 30 minutes to drive from Austin. Go about sunset for an outstanding view of Lake Travis. There are several large patios overlooking the lake. Note: the picture I have included is not actually taken at The Oasis, but hey it's a sunset in Austin at least! Oasis, Lake Travis - it's a bit out of town but it's worth the trip. Address: 6550 Commanche Trail. Ph: 512-266-2441. Please book ahead: it's very popular wwith locals. The food is yummy tex-mex and the sunsets from the balcony are incredible. Leave a Comment Theme: Other

Most restaurants with a great view means you have to sacrifice in the food department. Not so at the Oasis. They have tons of outdoor (covered, or not) deck seating overlooking scenic Lake Travis. The last time out (May, 2007), I enjoyed an awesome burger and margarita. They do have a very extensive menu, so bring an appetite.

Ummmm, don't come here for the food. The view is unbeatable and it is always nice to sit outside on a Mountain top and dine overlooking a lake. But at least the food could be enjoyable. The chips where out of a bag, a cheap one at that. The dips were like what I buy at walmart. Everything was bland, and just cheap supermarket fare. I didn't try a margarita but I hear they are good, so go for a drink on the deck and that's it. I think the prices are expensive for food you can't even eat.

Definitely come here for the view, but not for the food. This restaurant is huge, 3+ levels on a mountain side overlooking Lake Travis. Because this place is so big, there's hardly ever a wait for a table. It's great to sit outside with a margarita and enjoy the view.
My fish tacos weren't bad and the guacamole was pretty good. Steak and Chicken fajitas were very bland. Leave a Comment

The Oasis is really a getaway from Austin. While located in the city limits it is about a 20 minute drive from the downtown area. It is worth the drive though as it does have beautiful panoramic views of Lake Travis and really cool sunsets. It bills itself as "Sunset Capitol of Texas" and it really is. There are no better sunsets in Texas as views to the west are usually dreary affairs here. I have been coming here since the 80s and I have had a few drunken sunsets. Lightning struck the place in 2005 and it burned down. They have re-built and it is better than ever.
The shrimp tacos are Baja-licious! It is at Lake Travis and you WILL get lost if you don't have up to date directions. The road out in that area are being rebuilt and there are new toll roads all the time. Any info I put here may be OOD by next month.Website: www.oasis-austin.com

Overlooking Lake Travis this outdoor restaurant and bar complex has the most amazing views over the lake. For a change smokers have the seats with the better views. Come before dusk in order not to miss a real amazing sunset. Don’t forget their Margaritas: They’re some of the best in town. This place is highly recommended and not to be missed. Might be best to just drink a couple of margaritas and watch the views of Lake Travis from the multi-leveled wooden decks. You can go for drinks and appetizers or for a full meal, but there are different sections for each. It ain't cheap, and the food sure isn't the best, but you're here for the unparalled views, so it's maybe worth a splurge just to watch the sun set behind the lake. It's the best drive in Austin. You'll zoom up and down hills as you follow the river. Very beautiful. I love that drive.Website: www.oasis-austin.com

This restaurant is located on Lake Austin, high up on a hill and has a huge patio area in the back with a great view of the lake. There is a nice garden area in the front and a gift shop as well, that sells Austin tshirts, Texas mugs, etc.
The Salmon with artichokes and mushrooms- also came with steamed vegetables. Very good! As well, the seafood martini is good- shrimp and avocado in vermouth and tomato juice, kinda like a bloody mary/ceviche. Leave a Comment
