GEORGETOWN: Chic to Punk in Georgetown
  • Tip Rating:
  • Not a particular shop per say but all of M street and Wisconsin Avenue in Georgetown offer everything the experienced shopper could possibly desire. From Louis Vuitton knock off purses purchased by the street vendors, to the funky Betsy Johnson boutique, stop in and get a new look for the evening by Felipe at Aveda or, for your kids take them to the local stores to buy funky clothes that would make a parent cringe :)

You can't go home without buying a "FBI" t-shirt. :-)

Window Shopping = $0 to breaking the bank!

    GEORGETOWN: Great shopping for Gen-Y'ers
  • Tip Rating:
  • When my daughter saw the Ambercrombie & Fitch and American Eagle Outfitters stores in Georgetown, she wanted us to drop her off there while we did the Georgetown University tour with my son. "No way," I told my 14-year old barely 90 pounds daughter, "am I going to let you roam around a strange city all by yourself."

"Oh Mom," she rolled her eyes and sighed. "You're soooooooo overprotective. I can take care of myself."

"I'm not worried about that," I replied. "I'm worried that you'll max out my credit card."

Georgetown has a number of trendy stores - some are chains and some are boutiques. You can find a bit of everything here.

    GEORGETOWN: Bring your wallet!
  • Tip Rating:
  • Georgetown is small and quiet excepting when it is invaded by tons of people out enjoying the weather and the shopping. There is some great shopping on its main streets (M and Wisconsin). You can find American venues such as Lucky jeans, Kate Spade, and BCBG. There are also international stores like Bennetton, Zara, and Club Monaco. The boutiques can be pricey, but you won't find these stores just anywhere in the DC area...they are gems!!

Kate Spade leather pencil pouch, great deal!

    $100-$300 for the pricier things
    $20-$70 for your special finds

GEORGETOWN: very good shops, not just high street shops
The whole area around M-Street/Wisconsin Avenue is kind of a shopping district, there is something for everyone. Also plenty of good restaurants.

elegant, extraordinary art, household items, jewlery, antiques, fashion, cosmetics among others.
Keith Lipert is my favourite store for fine gifts.

    plenty

GEORGETOWN: Shop 'Til You Drop in Georgetown
Georgetown is quite a ritzy area, and as such it is home to many upscale shops and boutiques (think Coach, Banana Republic, Armani Exchange, etc.). If you take the train to Rossyln Station and walk across the bridge into Georgetown proper, you will get a good glimpse of the river and Georgetown University, which is nice in itself. Continue into town and you'll be overwhelmed with the endless opportunities for spending all of the money you brought with you on your trip. So don't spend too much, but do enjoy what there is to see in Georgetown. It's a nice place to walk through, and they have some good restaurants there as well just in case all that shopping gives you a larger than life appetite.

    In Georgetown? Fancy stuff.

    $50-$1000

Georgetown is chock full of stores for people who like to shop. Whether you plan to buy, or just want to window shop, Georgetown is lots of fun. The old architecture is interesting to enjoy as you go along, and there's plenty of places to choose from to eat at when you need a break. It's a wonderful stylish place to shop and spend way too much doing it. Georgetown is not a place for bargain hunters.

Especially apparel, men's and women's clothing and accessories.
