Zuanich Park
  • Tip Rating:
  • Small park located in the marina district of Bellingham. Has a very scenic view of Bellingham bay , and the adjoining views of the waterfront and the marina. Across the way is the Hotel Bellwether. There is also a statue that is dedicated to the lost fishermen, that have never returned home.

    Ski to Sea Race
  • Tip Rating:
  • During the Ski to Sea Festival (Memorial Day weekend), on Sunday a race is held from the Mt. Baker Ski area to Marine Park in Fairhaven (Southern part of Bellingham). The race starts w/ cross country skiing, then downhill, then running 7 miles down the mountain, then biking to Everson where the batton is handed off to a canoe. The Canoe goes as far as Ferndale and then hands off to a mountain biker who bikes to Bellingham Bay and hands off to a sea kayaker who kayaks accross Bellingham Bay to Fairhaven. The kayaker runs up the beach and rings a bell to end the race for his team.

    Zuanich Point Park
  • Tip Rating:
  • This place is a good starting point for your visit to Bellingham. The park is at the main harbor, and there is plenty of parking & also stores & restaurants to look at. But the main reason to visit the park is to get a nice view of Bellingham, the adjacent mountains & the Puget Sound & San Juan Islands.

Make sure you bring a coat because it's often freezing cold from a stiff breeze that blows in. There's not much else to see except for the boats & a memorial to fishermen that have been lost. This place was a huge fishing town, & fishing is still a major industry here.

Here's a website for the "Safe Return" fisherman's memorial:

During the summer, the park is a nice place to play frisbee or just hang out.

    Visiting the Big Rock Garden
  • Tip Rating:
  • A unique 2.5 acre garden in the middle of a neighborhood, where nature and art are blended into the environment. A city park which displays and showcases prominent local and worldly artists that have designed more than a total of 30+ sculptures, paintings, and benches, that either are for sell, donated to the city in memory of a past loved one, or to say thanks for the memories. These sculptures blend with the local flora and fauna. Rhododendrons, azaleas, bamboo, little strawberry plants, and an assortment of 100 types of maple, pine, evergreen and other conifer type trees , which blend in with the local fenced in manmade trails which encompasses throughout the park.

Ski to Sea -It all ends in Fairhaven
  • Tip Rating:
  • The big Ski to Sea race ends in Fairhaven (southern neighborhood of Bellingham). There is a street fair there all day long that thousands of people come to. There are lots of artists, food, beer garden, misc. venders, and all the shops are open.
