 | Tacoma Restaurants | Tips 1 - 10 of 45 | | Popular Restaurants | Other Restaurants Tips | All Tips (45) Since the Sheraton Tacoma did not have a concierge on duty, I was left to my own devices to find a place to eat. Not seeing any taxis, and not in the mood to wait for one, I decided to take a walk. I stumbled upon Menconi's as the first place open, although it took me several blocks of a walk! Located in the Theater District, this restaurant had great pub food. I had the cheesesteak and sweet potato fries! As I pondered what the Northwest would be like before moving here I pretty much imagined a cafe serving sandle clad locals all natural foods, good coffee, and couches in what could be an old wild West saloon. Not only is this place a perfect example of Northwest culture but it is a Northwest institution. In summer I love heading up to Point Defiance for a stroll and after enjoying a lemonade with honey at the Sandwich Co. More then often a musician is playing on the bench outside and at night the Co. houses poetry readings and folk music. This place is Vegan friendly.

Great food made by great people. I use to work for these guys, so I know. CJ will set you up with a great meal if you've never had Indian food before and there is a great selection for those willing to try more adventurous fare. I am addicted to this place and eat there about once a week. Make sure you call for a reservation as this is a small resturaunt with only 15 tables and it gets BUSY on the weekends and evenings.
You have to get the Mutter Paneer (Peas and Cheese). It's a great vegetarian dish made with fresh ingredients and home made Paneer cheese. Throw in an order of Samosas with Raita to start with and some Mango Pudding for desert. Food for the Gods!
