 | Ilha de Fernando de Noronha Things To Do | Tips 1 - 10 of 84 | | Popular Things To Do | Other Things To Do Tips | All Tips (84) Sancho bay is considered to be one of the most beautiful beaches in Brazil...you can access it on boat (swimming) or by trail, from Baia dos Porcos. It´s a secluded, calm beach..the water is turquoise to emerald, cristal clear, perfect for swim. There are lots of little fishes arround, with all colours. It´s also the best spot for snorkelling...there´s a huge reef wall covering the hill that separates it from baia dos porcos. Turtles, lots of corals and even moreas can be seen. Am I describing paradise or not? =D Leave a Comment Directions: Take the trail from Baia dos Porcos up to the hill, and then descend....voilá!

If you have the opportunity to choose the time you want to go to Noronha, then you should first of all avoid the high season period (from January to February), for many reasons: there are lots of turists, prices are higher, many activities are full (the park allows only 420 tourists in the island), it´s a rainny period and the tide is more aggressive (February is the best time for surf). July is also full of turists. March and April are the most rainny months...try to avoid them as well. But if you only have these months to get there, don´t worry, really...you are heading to paradise, there is no bad time for that!!! The best months to go are May (calm tide, low prices, good climate) and September (mainly for diving: dry period, the water can reach the visibility of 50 meters, the tide is still calm and there are still low prices). You have not landed yet and there´s already a "must see" for you in Noronha: that would be the view of the island from the plane. Try to arrange a window for you, and prepare your camera when you are landing, because the scenery from above is amazing!!!! The plane contours the entire archipelago, ann if you are lucky to get a sunny day (which is not difficull at all) you will be able to see everything from above!!! When you are arriving, the right side is the best to see the island. =P Leave a Comment

At the edge of the village of Vila dos Remedios a pathway leads up a hill to the ruins of a fortress built in the early 1700's. The vistas from this hilltop, in my opinion, are the main attraction. Leave a Comment Directions: Downhill from the church plaza to the cobbled road, and a few paces to the right along the road. The pathway leads up from the left side of the road.

There are two main spots for observation of the wonderfull sunset in the island, that you must see!! One is the fortress called Forte dos Remédios , near the vilage with the same name, and the other is from the fortress Forte S. Pedro do Boldró in the beach of Boldró. The reason for so many fortresses, as you will be able to see, is that the island was, for a long time, used as a defense spot... The island was discovered in 1503, three years after the dicovery of Brazil, by Americo Vespúcio...for its privileged location and the fact that it was isolated by the sea, the island was for many ocasions included in military strategies, and also used as a place for exile. That´s why you´ll find fortresses, old canons and an ancient presidium... Nowadays, there´s only one person arrested in the island!! hihihih From the Forte S. Pedro do Boldró you will be able to have a nice view of the so called "Morro Dois Irmãos", which means "two brothers", since they are two mountains placed next to each other, with the same shape. The locals call it Morro "Fafa de Belem", which is a brazilian singer with huge breast hehehehe =D Leave a Comment

Praia do Cachorro (Dog´s beach) is the beach righ in front of Vila dos Remédios, it has calm waters and is one of the most frequented by the locals. Located in Mar de Dentro, it stands between Baia de Santo Antonio (the portuary bay) and praia do Meio. Next to it, there´s the so famous Bar do Cachorro where you can hear some brazilian music at night... Leave a Comment

Trails skirt both sides of the island. One strategy is to start out in the morning, carrying your snorkel gear along, and hike until late afternoon, stopping off to swim, sun, and snack. The beaches along the Mar de Dentro side have small bar/restaurants, but on the Mar de Fora side, it might be a good idea to carry a lunch along. Take your camera, too, since there are many lookout points all along the trails. The photo shows the lookout above the Praia do Leao on the Ponta da Sapata trail. Leave a Comment

Baía dos Porcos is an amazing place...The name means "'Pig´s Bay", and it comes from its similarity with a cuban bay that has the same name, according to the american army that visited the area. The bay is small, secluded, between two hills, with a close view of the Morro Dois Irmãos. Among the rocks you will find many natural pools, where you can see lots of fish...the kind of aquarium you´d like to have at home! hehe You can do some snorkelling around the rocks, but the entrance to this small pools are completely prohibited, besides being dangerous. But the best view from Baia dos Porcos is from above the hill, between Sancho´s bay (take at look at the intro´s picture....that´s the one!!!). Sancho is not only wonderfull from the shore, it also has a great view from above. You have to spots for observation: one is between Sancho and Baia dos Porcos, the other is up the following hill. The water is usually so clean that you will be able to see everything.... Leave a Comment

There are 16 public access beaches on the principal island of Fernando de Noronha. During certain times some beaches, such as Leao, are closed for turtle nesting. Others, like Conceicao and Boldro are key surfing beaches during the summer months. Leave a Comment Directions: Check map locations in the brochures you get at the Park Fee desk when arriving at the airport.
